Seniores league debut, playing 2nd reserve match. Team went down 2 1/2-1 1/2 but I won 3 & 1. Tough gig, giving 6 and 12 shots to opponents on their home track, although my partner was getting 10 so a good, tight match, never more than 1 in it either way until near the end.
My driving was straight and long, and the length told in the end when their shots had been mostly used up. Greens weren't great (same problem as our home course, not enough heat in the sun to promote decent growth) but I gave up looking for lines and concentrated on length, took 3 putting out of the picture.
Had a few looks at biride but nothing dropped, and one of those was really annoying. Due to covid rules (no touching flagsticks) they use small hooks tied to the flagstick with a plastic plate on the bottom. Putt, lift the hook with your putter head, out comes your ball. Dead centre holed putt, but it hit the slightly bent wire running down the flagstick, and popped out to 1" from the hole ...
