Shot 47-40 87. We had the course almost to ourselves. We had a threesome in front of us and 2 foursomes in front of them. No one behind us until the 4-5 hole. We played in just over 3 hours. Those groups were playing super fast for foursomes. Its funny how fast you can play this game if you have players who play ready golf. All it takes is one group to slow down the whole course.

37-38. Lousy day off the tee, and everywhere else. 86*, humid, light breeze, and super slow groups ahead that I could not play through. No rhythm. Long waits. Long round.

Old guy(very old guy!) just ahead of me holed one on the last hole, Par 3! Acted like he does it daily, lol.

The first round of our City Senior 2 Man Scramble today and our +1 puts us in a tie for 14th overall out of 31 teams. The good news is we are tied for 1st in the Second Flight. My partner is a solid single handicap and I wasn't a whole lot of help. Made a couple of mid-length putts, hit a few nice approaches, and then there were the fuglies. This is being played on Notah Begay's design at the Indian Casino and it's always in plush, gorgeous shape. They pump in the water from the casino's treatment plant so don't lick your balls.

Shot 94 today. Driver works, 5h works, putter works. Everything else sucks and I've even lost my chipping touch around the greens. Golf Hell. If it wasn't for the camaraderie of our group, I'd consider quitting. Need to stop dwelling on how good I used to be.

Shot 41-42-83 at The Legacy by Arthur Hills. Very windy and very firm greens did me in. I also "ran out
of gas" on about the 12th hole, and had to throw my bag on the cart of one of the other guys and ride the rest of
the way. It was 86 degrees and very windy, but I was huffing and puffing to make the longish walks from green
to tee. We'll see how it goes next week, but I may have to rethink my "walk the course" philosophy.

Probably would cost a little more than I would want to spend....Next week we're playing a course with more "normal"
distances from greens to the next tee. I worked pretty hard around the house yesterday and didn't sleep well last night, so maybe this was just one of those days. I'd hate to give up the walking b/c I think it's GOOD for me!!

fatshot I'm beginning to think now that I may have been de-hydrated. I drank two bottles of water during play (one on each 9, my usual habit). After the round, I drank an iced tea in the clubhouse, followed by another bottle of water. Since I've been home, I've had three more bottles of water, and only now had the urge to pee. Also had cramping in my legs while I was playing. I'm just now wondering if that was my problem today......

I putted pretty solid my last round with an old taylormade nubbins as I really only missed 1 putt I should have made and had one more bad putt overall. I made more than my average mid-range putts as well. I am generally a decent putter and have always used heavier, face-balanced mallets so a light, blade putter is virtually the opposite. Probably just means i can putt equally well or bad, regardless of the putter

Rained on and off most of the day so golf_ghirl gave up hope of cutting work early for a round, I grabbed the pencil bag and did a quick 12 (75 minutes ...) on a near empty course. Started with 2 straight pars and a bogey,each with a single putt. Didn't 3 putt at all, maybe a first for this season. Greenkeepers are working flat out to improve our greens but weather is making it hard work for them.

Rest of the round was a mix of overshooting the green or coming up short - loaded the bag with 7i, and PW instead of 9i, so had to punch 7i a few times, hit the greens OK but ball wouldn't stick. Up'n'in many times, inclduing several short-sided shots where i had to punch a shot into the upslope to slow it down on the green. Good fun.

All good practice, I am now looking forward to my seniors league debut on Wednesday.

The Topeka City Senior 2 Man Championship is in the books and I'm feeling better about my game. We improved 1 shot and won the second flight 1 clear of the runner-up and 4 clear of the 3rd place team. The wind was brutal again today, the course softer, and greens quicker so the fields' scores were generally higher but we hung in there.

Typhoon. 28 on the front? How do you not play the back nine with a chance for a 59? Id quit my job right there if they said anything about it. Did you at least play the back after work? Would that count?

garyt1957 I’ve had a 57 and a 59 already. The 57 (-13 )was a couple years ago and I shot my age...at a different course than I play now

Didn't bother me to stop after 9... that’s how I am.

I played today. The last time out I was hitting my irons so poorly that I went to the range on Monday. I thought I had figured something out so I had great hopes today. But, of course, I struggled on the first three holes, losing two balls. But I did start to figure it out and ended up hitting my irons a lot better than I had for a while. But my putting, which is usually decent for a bogey golfer, was not good today. Still, I ended up with 6 pars and should have had a couple more. And only one blow up hole. A fairly average score, for me, of 94. But I was mostly pleased with my iron play.

Got out on the course for a couple of hours this evening - was on my own with a couple of fourballs ahead, so ended up doing what's best described as 'practice on the course' (as in hitting a couple of balls on most holes, hitting a few shots that I wouldn't normally hit, trying to leave myself shots that I wanted to practice) on the front nine, then playing 10 to 13 as if I was marking a card (3 pars and a bogey, for what it's worth). A little bit of fun on the 8th green - had two tries at a putt from around 15 feet, leaving the first one right in the middle an inch or so short, then holing the first ball with the second putt.

Played 18 and did not have one par or birdie. I am not sure but I think that is the first time since I first started playing golf back in the early 1960's. Bladed a couple, shanked one, topped a couple, laid the sod over a few and on the green it was even worse. I think I might have said some bad words along the way as well.
