Shot 52/42 this morning. The first 6 holes were so bad it was almost comical. I was pretty happy with the back 9 where I had 4 GIRs. No birdies, though, and I missed a par save on #18 after flopping a shot over a sand trap to 3 feet.
How did you shoot today at Golf
Played a course yesterday in Tucson called Quarry Pines. Shot a 44-43 on one of the tightest courses I have seen in AZ. Front nine Played flat and through a neighborhood. Fairways were probably averaging 20 yards wide. Back nine Played around a reclaimed rock quarry and was even less forgiving. I had 7 unplayable lies and 6 were from the tee. My iron and wedge play were decent and I only had 28 putts. This is a course I need to play again now that I know the layout. My driver will not make as many appearances next time I play the course.
42/37 for 79. I was 7 over after 5 holes, and played the rest of the round in even par. One triple and two birdies. Both of the birdies were net eagles in the money game. 8 GIR and 30 putts. I missed some sweet birdie looks inside 15 feet. The steel shafted STi irons are really working great. I feel very confident now when I have a 7 iron or less into a green. Especially the wedges. I'm starting to get good at knocking them down, taking more club and hitting a softer shot, etc. Those shots were impossible for me with the 65 gram graphites.
Our team did pretty well, which was a surprise to all four of us.
Just got back from the Ocean City MD golf trip. We played Baywood Greens on the way down, then Lighthouse Sound, Rum Pointe and Heritage Shores. All very nice courses, the only negatives were that 2 had recently aerated the greens and it was crazy windy (which also made it really cold) every day.
I shot a lousy 93 every round and finished 1st, 2nd, 1st and 1st in our daily matches lol. I felt like I should have shot 83 every day, but just couldn't do it.....luckily for me everyone struggled as much or worse. I also lucked out partner-wise each day as my partners had their best rounds with me. Some great zigging and zagging too as I was pretty consistently making a par and then a double, but the pars were at the right times.
I had fun, but I may pass on the trip next year. I was wearing winter mittens with hand warmers in between every shot and a winter knit hat most of the time. The cold winds off the water were just brutal for someone with Raynauds and 4 rounds in the same conditions were uncomfortable. I have definitely become a fair weather golfer in my old age.
- Didn't shoot my age, but I did shoot the temperature.
I shot 38-38-76 today at Eagles Landing GC in Oregon, Ohio. Two birdies, 11 GIR, 33 putts. A little cool
when we started, but then the course is right across the street from Lake Erie, and it warmed up to almost
60* when we finished. Beautiful fall day with almost no wind.....
garyt1957 The drive is long enough and last year we lucked out with warmer weather for all but the last day. We hit Florida in the winter. The OC trip came about when 2 guys found some great deals on hotel and golf. I loved last year, but this year a bit sick of being cold. Of course I always say I'm quitting golf all together and keep playing so.....
garyt1957 I would imagine it's REALLY busy there in the summer. I would certainly prefer the weather though. A few of us were thinking of doing a shorter trip in May before it gets busy but hopefully with nicer weather. There are some very nice courses and very different from what I normally play which is cool.
Another beautiful day in Missouri. 50* at tee time, 70* when we finished. The front nine started out well with two pars and then fell apart. The back nine started out poorly, losing 2 balls on number 10 but got better after that. Ended up with 50/45. A little worse than average but still within a normal range.
It was CPO (which it will be until April 1) but we got around in about 3:45.
Chic-Fil-A for lunch.
85 with 32 putts this afternoon. Only 4 GIR. I missed a lot of greens by just a few feet and then chipped and putted poorly. I hit the ball pretty well and it felt like my score could not hardly have been worse.
Chick-Fil-A for supper!
