Par4QC You're the only person I know of who is claiming to try to miss greens that he could hit.
But if you don't feel like you can hit the green, so you want to miss in good spots, that's different. It's not clear from your posts. If that's the case, I with you 100%.
But, I am hitting 7 iron or less into 12 or 13 greens, so I'm aiming at those greens. No way I'm trying to miss with a 9 iron or whatever.
I am hitting 4,5, & 6 hybrid into the remaining ones, all of those are fairly big, and none of those have big & easy places to miss. Unless you are okay with missing 30 yards short, then okay, we have roomy spots there to miss. From there you can pitch up and over the bunkers and such. But if you want a basic chip shot, you have to go at the green but miss slightly, and stay up on or almost on the raised area of the green.
When I say no good place to miss, the typical scene is a slight throat in front, maybe 10 yards wide. The rest of it is bunkers or drop-offs. If you can reliably hit that throat from 150-170, you could just as well take one more club and hit the green. If you can't hit the green or that throat, then stay 30 yards short like I said. Believe me, I wish we had a lot better places to miss. It would really help the shorter older players here.
