Very interesting round! I shot 82, nothing special there. 34 putts, none particularly great. 7 GIR.
I couldn't hit a short iron to save my life. It was awful. I have sworn I will not complain about playing on the dormant grass, which about like hitting off dirt, but, it's tough.
I drove the ball great, and I had TWO 2-putt birdies.
On the par five 3rd, I hit a great, long drive with the right curvature in the right spot to sling around the dogleg while missing a bunker, then hit a 4 wood onto the elevated green. Well, a foot onto the fringe, but leaving under 20 feet to the pin. I missed it and when I tapped in for birdie, our captain says hey nice par. My teammates were too busy worrying about their own game to notice I was up there in two! Bastards. 🙂
Then on the par four 15th, 320 yards downhill, down breeze, dormant grass, warm day... I hit a drive in the slot between the trees and bunker, and made it down to the green. 25 foot putt, I hit it 24, lol. At least that one made the news in the 19th hole before I got there because the group ahead was still putting when my ball rolled up.
I usually don't even have 1 eagle putt chance per year.
.
I would say we probably lost a little money. We broke even in the game.
Now to fret about my irons for the rest of the evening.
