We got water over the weekend. Many stores were out, but our nearest Publix allowed one case per customer. So we were able to get some. I’m 32 miles north of Tampa airport. We’re in the middle of the cone right now.
In 2004 we were supposed to get hit by Charlie. But at the last minute Charlie made a turn and slammed into Punta Gorda. Ian is bigger than Charlie.
We’ve dodged a few in the last 20 years with no direct hits. Mostly rain and high wind events. They’re predicting 8 - 10 feet storm surge. We’re probably 3 - 4 miles from the ocean as the crow flies. So probably not in danger from that.
It’s supposed to strengthen to a category 4 and then weaken. They’re saying it could slow down which could mean a couple days of hurricane winds and rain.
We’ll batten down the hatches best we can and hope for the best.
