Par4QC Through the years, from all I've seen on courses, it's not just the geezer crowd that needs to 'move up'. You would think golf course admins would also see this. They could produce quicker rounds/more rounds per day/more cash flow. Take away those damned back tees, no one in the amateur ranks needs them, or needs to play from them. Not even Typhoon.
Courses don't need more tee boxes, they need less. Think about it.
I don't see too many people playing the blue tees when I play, of course I play during the week when it's more seniors anyway. But even on travel golf trips at resort courses I don't see too many if anybody playing back.
I don't know if it's still a thing but back when a course had to be a certain yardage to be a proper course. When I was younger it was 6500 yards, then went up to 6700. Not sure what that number is now. So many courses in my area cheated on distances to get to that magical 6500. Every hole was marked 30-50 yards longer than it really was. You couldn't really prove it till GPS came out. I have reviews on FGI where I said I hit a driver 300 yards when in reality they were 270. I was using the stated yardage, oops.
So that may be why courses will never get rid of the back tees, image.
