mikeintopeka (afternoon hi was 62, tee time was only 56)
golf_bhoy In Scotland that would mean starting with a jumper but it's coming off after a few holes, unless the wind's from the north
And so it came to pass, almost exactly as described yesterday. Spooky or what? Almost flat calm and blue skies, a round with 2 good friends - just realised they both have double initials so I'll refer them to as that from now, KK and GG. KK had a superb front 9, 8 straight pars but doubled #9 due to an errant drive and attempted miracle recovery shot. His putting dropped off back 9 but he shot close to or under his index.
GG - this is the friend who had heart surgery in October - didn't play so consistently but played his first full 18 (previous best was 16) so his recovery is coming along nicely, aided and abetted by temps in double figures.
I shot 43/39 with 2 doubles and a triple (trash talk handicap), 1 biride on 17, and am now sitting with my first "sunburn" of the year. Been ogling drivers on ebay/golfbidder/golfclubs4cash (last 2 are trade-in resell sites) but my current bagger must have seen me looking as it only missed 2 fairways all day (and not in a troublesome way).
Great day out, lot of laughs, trash talk, decent golf ... just a shame we couldn't round it off with a pint in the clubhouse yet ...
