Got out for nine today. Weather was beautiful. A bit windy, but temps in the 70s.
Hit some good shots and some bad ones.
Almost had a hole in one on the sixth hole. Downhill par three, pin back left, green slopes left to right. A guy in my group had just hit a shot to about eight feet by landing it on the right front of the green and allowing it to roll back and right. So I aimed about where his shot landed. Hit a choked-down 7-iron. I hit it pure and it was right on my intended line. It landed on the front and slightly right of the middle and then it began its slow roll-out toward the hole. It kept getting closer and closer and the guys were saying 'this looks good,' 'this could be close,' etc and then it changed to 'this could go in!'
The ball was rolling toward the pin like a putt and it was headed straight at it but then it stopped about three feet short. The birdie putt was completely straight, so I think if it would have had three more feet of oomph it might actually have gone in!
Oh well. First birdie of the season (only played nine holes total before today this entire year).
Other than that teaser of a birdie I had a few pars, a few bogies, and two doubles (worse than usual for me)... both were with penalty strokes (one lateral hazard, one water ball).
All in all, a good time.
