First time back out in 3-4 weeks, and the first round with the return of the Maltby TS1 irons. I had been to the range several times, so I had a good feel for the distances.
WRONG! The senior distance loss was in full bloom today. Front 9, I hit two greens. Both were right by the 100 yard marker, which should have been a perfect GW. It was, hit two good shots. The other 7 holes were all the same, good strike, right on line, but 10-15 yards short. Finally on 10, 145 out, and absolutely nuked a 7i (which is my 150 club I think) which ended up near the pin. On to #11, a long par 5. Good drive, pulled out the laser to figure out my layup distance. It's my home course, so I knew it would be 260-270 out. Laser said 237. I thought must have hit the bunker lip, so I lasered again, yep, 237.......meters. Played the front 9 on meters and wondered why I was always 10-15 yards short.
Idiot.
