KCee sdandrea1 Since the pandemic the courses can do what they want and they'll be turning people away. Not sure if this increased play is good for golf or not.

We don’t even answer the phone half the time. Too busy… we have a message telling people to book tee times online. 99% of the calls are people looking for tee times and we’re booked solid anyway.

The pandemic is good for the facilities and for the manufacturers. Problem is it’s turning from a “game/sport” that people like myself focus on getting better at to an “activity”. I’ve said this before, all I hear now are people saying “where else can I go and drive around, drink and smoke?”…. The golf is never mentioned.

Typhoon It's too bad almost all the 9 hole courses in our area closed up. They would have been perfect for all these golfers. They all closed and strip malls and housing developments went up.

More “golf entertainment” venues needed to meet this type of demand. Some sort of restricted flight equipment to cut down on land usage and expense, and some technology (app based tracking/scoring/ancillary betting or side games). Maybe 12 hole course broken up into 3 hole loops so you can pick your # of holes based on the amount of time you’ve got? (And don’t worry, there will be an algorithm to handle the complex scheduling and routing).

Shot a 109 at Disney’s Palm. It was Jekyll and Hyde. 10 bogies (which I count as a win), 2 Doubles, and 6 “others” - mostly water induced mayhem. If I’d have limited the blow ups s bit better, it would have been a decent round for me.

I played with my wife’s uncle who shot an 85. He helped me slow my tempo and “feel” the club head. I hit some of the best shots I’ve ever hit including sticking an 8 iron on the green from 142 and launching a 311 yard drive with my Geek Floyd the Driver - a beautiful little baby draw.

All in all a perfect day and a great round!

I swear that years ago I was traveling by a course that was like that. Didn't play it, but I swear the sales rep might have said it was 18 holes with 3 hole stretches extending out from the center clubhouse. Looked sort of executive-like in length and you could play any # of holes divisible by 3. Can't remember where I was though. I want to say either IL or MI as at the time those reps were big time golfers.

You don’t need to dumb it down and cater to these people… they come anyway. Like I said, “golf” has nothing to do with it. It’s just drinking, driving a cart, taking pictures of each other with a cigar and a backwards hat. They don’t need a shorter loop, or a shorter course because they don’t give a shit if they’re out there for 6 hours.

Eguller Yeah. Top golf, more “entertaining” simulators, new smaller courses. Just different ways to consume golf for different folks with different strokes (pun 💯 intended)

The Marysville (KS) Country Club is a nine hole course that my organization had in our rota annually. We'd travel to play somewhere in NE KS monthly to raise some money for transportation costs to get children to a Shrine Hospital for treatment and it was one of our favorite 'tour' stops, not only for the golf but the amazing dinners with the local locker's hand cut steaks or pork loins. The course is set up for holes 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 to all come back to the clubhouse. The guys that needed liquid lube to help their games, and attitude, loved it. And no need for a beverage cart. The members loved it if they wanted to iron something during a 'quick 3 or 6 holes'.

So a couple weeks ago we played the second day of our club's league championship,
and I shot a stellar 96!
Then yesterday, same course,same tees,same group, about 15° cooler....77, stupid game!

84 at The Eagles (Forest Course). Had one birdie. Won two matches and lost one. Won two greenies. Beautiful morning out there. My buddie continues to stripe his new Ping G425 SFT. Never seen him drive it so well in the 14 years I've been playing golf with him. Chicken salad sandwich for lunch.

Sneakylong You always post your scores, but never complain. I like that! It tells me you are not that much interested in such, except for h/c purposes perhaps, and even then, not really concerned. You go out, play 18 with friends, have lunch, and a good time is had. Again, I like that!!

But, I hate you for being able to do that every day, and I cannot. 😲😉

Yeah, I know what I am. Which is a high functioning hacker. lol I understand how golf works. Never thrown a club in my life and never bitch much. Kind of a Rickey Fowler demeanor. I do enjoy a little trash talking though.

We don't carry a handicap anymore since we left our former home course (Fox Hollow). We had a USGA GHIN for free with our membership. I'm not going to pay for one now. I know what my level is. I'm around a 10-12 capper.

We play in the same foursome and two of us are the same level and the other two guys are about the same level. It all works out fine. We play twice a week and it's a lot of fun.

You're not a hacker. You're a good player. 10-12 handicap puts you in the top 5% of all golfers (not golfers with a hdcp, but maybe that too) maybe even higher, Be proud.

Two of us are 66 and are very similar skill wise. The other two guys are 74 and 82. They're pretty close skill wise as well. They were both decent golfers in their day. We mostly play a 6,6,6 game and the two older guys each get 2 strokes per each 6 hole match. It works out pretty well.

Shot 40-39-79 in a howling wind at Bedford Hills in Temperance, Michigan again. It may be the only public course
still open in the area right now. The temps were in the mid to high 50's, so it was certainly bareable, but winds were
gusting up to 25-30 mph at times. Looking at the long range forecast, it doesn't look like we'll have any good days
to play in the foreseeable future....might be putting the clubs away until 2022...!!

fatshot That's a great score in the winds we had that day. I felt the warmth when stepping outside and gave a quick thought to golf, till I felt the wind and then, nope not gonna do it.

It seems like I'm on an every two week schedule for golf. Beautiful day for golf. 72 degrees and sunny. I shot 92 which is decent for me. A lot better than my last round on the same course. I started out great, parring 5 of my first seven holes. It should have been 6 of 7 but for a three putt. I drove it pretty well, hit full iron shot decently and putted well, having only 1 three putt. But my pitching and chipping around the greens was terrible. I was blading a lot of them. Then when I tried to be sure not to blade them, I managed to chunk them.

We'll have to see how much I get to play over the winter. The courses stay open, but I'm not too interested in playing in temps below 45 degrees. You never know around here.
