First round of the year in IL, 9 hole par-32 executive course. Bogey golf (OK, OK, that includes 2 mulligans on a duffed chip and thinning one into the water on a 175 yard par 3) with a double bogey (on a 4-putt!) and two pars.
Can't complain seeing as I got to the course and discovered I forgot to pack any sleeves of new balls and in fact didn't have any good used ones either. 🤣😜
All I had left in my bag were 4 scuffed or found balls. Had to make do with one of my usual ball; saved that one for putting only (scuffed Top Flite D2 Feel). The others were a found red Wilson Staff Duo (died in the lake incident), scuffed Nike Power Distance Super Soft (used this ball tee to green from hole #2 on), and found/scuffed Pinnacle Exception. Stopped using the Pinnacle after the first hole as it seemed really short on distance.
Didn't see nary a ball on the course to add to my collection so thank goodness I only lost one.
Other positives:
- had followed @Weirfan posted recipe to clean 2-3 year old grips on my irons over the weekend; worked very well not only from the visual test but also as judged by...
- my iron play was not rusty, no mishits; finally getting the hang of the SL thing after 12 years(!) 😂
- Cleveland XL270 driver build with TP Aldila RIP Phenom shaft was promising
- 18° Adams 9032Ti Hybrid Fwy with Wishon shaft - 2 lasers on long Par 3s
Negatives
- Only one. The range was a disaster. Got a small bucket to warm up. Not only were the range balls caked with old mud, the mats were full of dirt. Every iron shot left a 1 cm line of dust across the clubface. No kidding.
Other than that, a great day to be alive and walk the course!
