Good round on my home course with my mate KK, his first 18 in 12 weeks due to an (as yet) undiagnosed injury. He still shot a 74 ... I wasn't scoring as I was planning on moving the back weight around on my driver although I ended up not doing so. I played very steady par/bogey golf, a couple of doubles, and a birdie on #18 after a 7i approach shot to 18 inches.

Decent warm up round for seniors league on Thursday, our last match of the season.

1st time out since shooting my all-time low of 78, shot a far more typical 43 that should have been a 40 or 41. Holes haven't been moved in a while & the cup edges were all rounded & soft. When the speed is good & the ball lips-out only 3 to 4 inches, I've putted it as well as I can. Also had 1 chip-in & almost chipped in another.

Chipping / pitching has been scary good, I attribute it to this Kevin Kisner video Halnorth posted on 4GEA, check it out:

I watched this Kisner video yesterday and decided to make it my simple swing thought while chipping/pitching during our unofficial couples fun scramble last night…ummmm…I didn’t duff or come up short on anything…not even once!…and every chip I made was solid contact with good spin.

WTH over? In 20 years of golfing I can’t recall ever reading or watching the “specific” tip that Kisner offers…or maybe I just forgot??? 🤣

Or maybe it is just the way he explained it that processed in my own mind better as compared to other chipping/short pitching lessons & tips I have received??

Whatever the case may be, after the results of last night, I will continue bringing this simple methodology to the course to see if it holds up!

Glad this worked as well for you as it did for me. I used to keep my weight on my left side but I was so handsy contact was very inconsistent. Vastly improved chipping was key in my 78 (best ever) because I was consistently not only on the green but also close enough to the pin that I had a realistic shot at a 1-putt. Yesterday I had 1 chip-in from 4ft off the green to a pin about 10-12ft on and one that burned the edge as it rolled 2ft past. This method really works for me.

Want to be a better putter? Be a better chipper.

Yes…this 👆and ball position was primarily all I would think about…and I also have always had a tendency to get too handsy leading to either thinning it or duffing it short

Great video!! So hard to get people to take their hands out of chipping. If you noticed at the end, the tip about “how would you swing a 50lb kettle bell” was awesome advice for starting your full swing as well.

I shot 38-40-78 today.....could have had a much better score if I just had a CLUE about chipping. Messed up numerous shots from just off the edge of the green....not tough ones either....just straight forward chips. Some left short, some blown 10-15 feet past the hole. Frustrating.....

85 today, still no extension and chipping sucked. I probably cost myself 4-5 strokes chipping. Gonna watch the Kisner vid above to see if that helps. I only hit a few good shots with the shortened irons, again no extension. I tried both new driver shafts, hit some good and bad ones. If I get the extension and chipping fixed, I may score in the upper 70’s. My putting is really my only saving grace at this point. I don’t know what it is, but I’m sinking both short, mid, and long putts right now. What I’m not sinking, I’m putting inside knee knocker territory.

41-37-78. Third 78 in the last month. Index to lowest ever (7.6). Hard to maintain. Have to shoot around 80-82 just to keep index there. But, feels good to play some solid golf.

Mattyv I have 6 rounds scheduled from this coming Friday through the following Tuesday. I will try take some pictures and give feedback on the courses. All courses are going to be new to me in beautiful Southern CA. I even get to tee it up with Sparky for the final round.

I am counting on Mattyv to be my good luck charm and end my 3 month long streak of not breaking 80. OK, I've only played 5 rounds, but still, I need some positive results.

You should surely look good compared to me by Tuesday. Some of these courses are going to kick my ass. 108 holes in 5 days! You get to see the final 18.

1 shot worse than yesterday; 36-38 on an easy course; well, not all holes, apparently. Bogies where there should not be. Ever.
Prolly the balls I'm using. And very soft course.(I got a long list...) 😉

Went five over on the first three holes, then went even par until nine, where i took double bogey after being in the middle of the fairway 85 yards from the green.
After the turn I went only one over for the whole back nine, and that was with a water ball!
It ls a par 70 course, so after going five over on the first three holes I ended up with a 78. 36 on the back nine. Years ago, a start like that would have derailed my entire round. I have finally learned to move on after a bad shot or a bad hole and just play the next hole without the baggage.
Pretty happy with two straight rounds in the 70s after not breaking eighty for about ten years.

IF I'm gonna have a bad stretch of holes or a double bogey, I'd rather do it early and get it out of the way....!
That way, I can give myself the "settle down" talk and tell myself to see how many holes I need to par in order to
get back to "better than bogey golf." A double bogey midway through the back nine (or later!) gives
you NO time to recover, does it....!!!
