This sums up today's round.....
#18 is a Par 4, 390 yards. Tee shot is uphill for 230 yds, then the fairways crests, and goes downhill to a collection area at about 290. 2nd shot is almost a 90 degree right turn. If you do not drive over that 230 crest, you can't see the green, and you are blocked out by large trees. You have to attempt a huge fade. If you do get over that 230 crest, you'll have a 100 yard shot where the green opens up right on your line.
We get up to the tee, into a 2 club wind so I really have to nuke it to get it over the 230 crest. I nuke it. Perfect, slight fade heading dead center of the fairway. Ball is coming down, and squarely hits on the fly one of the fairway stakes keeping carts from going down the crest side. My ball comes straight back....50 yards. So instead of that 100 yard simple wedge to a big green, I've got a 190 yard blind shot with a needed 40 yard fade with my hybrid. Fail....triple bogey. Did have a real nice dimple spot on the center of that stake which was now laying down on the ground.
That really sums up not just today but golf for the last 2 months.
