Just shot a 78, my best round ever, beating my previous best of 87 with a typical score in the low 90's. Had a 40 on the front 9, I figured "well, the back nine will deliver a harsh reckoning" but I just kept rolling with a 38. Driving was so-so but the rest of the bag was unusually sharp. Twice put a 7i within 6 ft from 148 - 155 leading to 3 birds & 6 pars, many of them 1-putts from well struck pitches & chips. Occasionally I've had everything come together at the same time for a few holes but never for an entire round.
Distance loss has been annoying me this year (just turned 70) so I swallowed my pride & moved up a couple tees and GOD, was I rewarded. I'm ready to be humbled the next time out but, for 1 day, I had a taste of what its like to play efficiently & I want more of that sweet taste.
