Played one of the fancy country clubs (Santaluz Club) in the fancy section of San Diego. The drive through the neighborhood was fun. Most houses were around $6M, but there were a couple there that Zillow estimates in the $30M-$40M range. I was excited to get out there, as my practices of late had been looking up. Wrong, I cannot imagine a worse day of iron play. Hit 6 greens in regulation. 2 were 80 yard wedges on par 5s, 2 were 3 hybrids, 1 was a 5 wood. The only iron shot to hit a green was a 9 iron hacked from the rough. Somehow managed to settle down on the back 9 and go +1 over the last 7 to hang on to a 79.
What worked today? The $17 Inazone wedge heads that I bought just to fill in while I decided what wedges to get next. Made some miraculous saves with those things. Also, the PXG driver was inspiring. I only hit one really good drive all day but still managed to hit 11/14 fairways.
Just sold off my last batch of extras, may be a spending binge in my near future.
