Played a quick 9 today to try to get dialed in for some scrambles coming up in a little over a week. Hit the ball pretty well considering I was stiff and sore from all the manual labor around the house and the last 2 days of softball practice. I made a few corrections that had been causing me problems, mainly setting up too far away from ball on iron shots and standing up and out of drives. Last 2 driving holes I hit a couple slight draws which doesn't happen very often for me with the driver. Was pretty steamy 87 and humid but the course was wide open after a 5-some of old farts let me play through on the 3rd hole.

12 holes with GG, beautiful day for it. Lots of pars and a birdie on a par 3, distance control on putts remains excellent. One of these days those will all drop you know ...

New FWs didn't fare as well as they did on the practice ground, think I just set my expectations too high and swing got a bit fast. Will sort it tomorrow. New driver is behaving nicely although slight right drift on a couple. Decided it was too lofty (10.5) so dropped it to 9.5 and draw bias (just 'cos I could). Better, longer than my preious setup, but I might book a Trackman session with my club pro to dial it in (although they all get a runout in tomorrrow's senior league match).

Got out for nine hot, humid holes at my usual muni thus evening. Still working on a new grip, new swing, wearing a glove, etc, but it is going well.
Drive I hit on 12 was the best I've ever hit there. Was two over standing on the 17th tee. Last two holes didn't go so well. Bad drive on 17 led to a bogey with a water ball penalty stroke. Good tee shot on 18 that was only slightly pulled ended up nearly unplayable in a bunker. Hacked it out with sand wedge and then hit a gorgeous approach to about five feet left of the hole, pin high. Didn't see the shot; blinded by the sun. Even by the time I was putting I couldn't see well, a lot of bright yellow flashing. Pulled the par putt left while squinting. Ended up four over.
All in all, not too bad. I hit some really solid shots that felt amazing, so I think the swing changes are working out.

I did the 6th round of the year. I totally suck donkey balls. The driver is killing me. Can't hit any irons or hybrids. Putting ok though once I stab the ball to the fucking green. I am not sure this is a game for all ages. Maybe time for this old geezer to hang it up.

Rickochet No need to hang it up over a really bad round. Even geezers can play and get enjoyment from the game. Take a little time off and then get out there and try it again.

Shot my 'all time best' today! A one under par 35-35-70 @ my home course, Chippewa Golf Club in Ohio.
The fact that I had 28 putts had EVERYTHING to do with the score. Put the old Rossie II back in the bag, and
it paid off!

I played a 2 man scramble with my old bosses and an old friend. My partner hadn't played all year. I hit the ball about as well as I have all year. I managed a 270 drive! It was cart path aided and ended up back in the fairway. We were 4 over which wasn't too bad.

38, +2, 9 holes. Actually played #10 and parred it also. Something I never do, only play 9-10. But, something came up and had to get home.

Damn, almost forgot about the chip in birdie! 😄 The crowd went wild!!

Seniors league match, home, team win 3-1 and me & my regular partner won 7&5, narrowly missing the 7&6 win we had a couple of weeks ago. I had one of those days when (almost) everything was perfect - big driving, accurate irons, couple of drop'n'stop gap wedges for tap-ins, good distance control with the putter, and this time ... this time ... most of them dropped.

I was +4 for 11 holes, only out of #12 when I knifed a (near sandless) bunker shot over the green into long grass, my partner had it covered for a half though. Bogey 5 (nett 4) on #13 to close the match out, played our way in with birdie, par, 3 bogeys.

By far the best and most consistent golf I have played for years. I should probably cancel my medal time for Saturday in case I've used my mojo quota for the month ... 😂

We all played sucky golf today. I went 48 - 52 for an even 100. Shot of the day went to my son at no. 17 on the Gatlinburg course. 216 yard par 3 uphill. Son spanked a 4 wood that landed over the front edge straight in line with the pin. When we got up there his ball was 20 feet short and right in the center of the green.

A picture of the most downhill par 3 I’ve ever played. 6 iron was pin high, but I missed the green to the right.

johnnydoom I've played a couple courses with that much or more elevation on Par 3's. They weren't nice enough to give playing yardage though!! One hole at a course in Tulsa, Ok you had to walk to the edge of the tee box to even see the pin location! Fun course all around! Another course in Muenster, Tx has a pretty good elevated par 3 as well, it is a fun course, just needs better conditions most times.

johnnydoom Not seen a sign telling the yards to play. Nice view though. Would it have hurt to wear Blue socks to honor @Spuzz ? Looks like a nice place to go, been to Gatlinburg a long, long time ago, time to go again. Thanks for the pics.

johnnydoom That's similar to the 16th hole at my club. Plays about 30 yds less. Ours has OB left, right and long (there's about 3 paces from the back of the green to OB) so most play it 20-25 yards less to be safe. It's maybe the only hole on our course where you hear hackers yelling "get in the bunker!!!!". It's a treat on a windy day.....which is most days.

Twisting and steep ride through the woods. It switch-backed twice. My wife was nervous, but they actually had an electronic override on the carts that wouldn’t let the cart go fast on any steep down slope.
