Coffee maker advice

Looking for advice on a coffee maker. Our Hamilton Beach flex brew has bit the dust so we need a new coffee maker- specifically a drip coffee maker as we have a nespresso and a Keurig already as well as a moka pot (yes we love our coffee). I'm leaning towards a higher end machine and have come across some brands I've heard of such as breville and some I haven't such as Bunn and Moccamaster. Your thoughts are much appreciated. Toulon/CPFitness- if you want to take a break from all the covid/ vaccine talk, I could use your sleuthing skills in regards to coffee makers😁

Overall, we love our coffee and looking for a high quality coffee maker. Mostly interested in just regular coffee but extras such as cold brew would be kinda nice too. Also, anyone have the ninja hot/cold brew system? Generally all in one machines do everything adequately but nothing really good but it's versatility is appealing.

Interested to see what the buzzers have to say. We have been using a Keurig for years both at home and at work. For Christmas my wife got me an AeroPress and an electric kettle which I have been using at work and I really like it. Maybe because I've bought better coffee, but the taste is smoother and I can control the strength more easily. I'm now tempted t look at one of those high end machines that grinds your beans and brews your coffee while you're in the shower 😁

LogicalOne We have had the Ninja as well for several years and like it a well. However, the model we have is more conducive to making 1 cup at a time.

My youngest has an aeropress for making a coffee for himself, not a pot of coffee. We had 2 Nespresso machines shit the bed on us.

Still mkae a single cup each for weekday mornings and after supper and a full pot on weekend morning All the while still choosing what coffee types we want.

I make/provide coffee for a few organizations that I'm active with when we meet (which hasn't been very much since the pandemic). I've tried several over the years, but the one that tends to last the longest is just a simple one-pot Mr. Coffee maker.

If I was into gourmet coffee, I'd probably look for something a little nicer. But for my own personal convenience, our Keurig serves the purpose, especially given that my wife and I only have a cup or two per day, and I drink decaf - she drinks high test.

I've also had decent luck with Cuisinart in the past, although they're a bit more expensive.

Our current coffee maker is a Cuisinart 12 cup drip type. A step above Mr. Coffee but not high end I guess. I like to load the maker before going to bed and have the timer turn it on at 5am. One thing I like about the Cuisinart is that you can choose how long before shut off and ours is set for 4 hours. It also makes the hottest coffee I have ever had in a drip maker. You can also adjust brew strength.

Crappy Tire has good ones on sale all the time. We had a Hamilton Beach that lasted a long time. Currently have a Lagostina that is okay but not spectacular. Cuisinart may be our next one to try.

I had a Ham/beach which was good. Now have a cuisinart 10 pot but since i only drink 1-2 cups each morning , if I dont pick a coffee up on the road I use an old Tassimo that was given to me. Received a Nespresso as a gift but never used it so regifted it. All these different appliances take up. Counter space, coffee maker, toaster, stand mixer, blender, etc....

It works out well for us. If we want a pot of coffee we can have it and if we want just one cup, we can have that also.
Prior to this we had two different Keurigs that both used just the Keurig Cups. Prior to that we always had Bunn coffee makers. They were a good machine also. If you've had coffee at a cafe, you've likely had coffee made in a Bunn coffee maker as the are big in commercial coffee makers. They are quicker than most, all you do is put in the filter and the coffee grounds hit a button and coffee comes out in just a few seconds. Your water is already in the machine and it's
kept hot and ready to make your coffee. This is the one we always had:

I have a Bunn Thermofresh coffee pot. Then again, I drink a lot of coffee. The heater for the water is in the reservoir, keeps the water hot as long as the power is on. Put fresh grinds in, fill the pot with fresh water and pour it into the maker, close the lid and have fresh pot of coffee in about 5 minutes. The only issue it have had is that after a few years, the thermal fuses burn out. They are fairly cheap and easy to replace so I have spares.

We never had that but ours usually ended up with the water reservoir springing a leak after 4-5 years.

mulegolf the only leaking mine did was after someone accidentally dropped it and cracked the housing. Then steam would escape the reservoir and make its way out and pool on the counter.

If you want to spend some bucks, I think Technivorm is the gold standard. Bonivita isn't bad, either, from what I have heard.

There are other options (I primarily use a french press and a Gaggia expresso machine, but do have a old Mr Coffee drip, Moka pots, and an Aeropress). I have toyed with a Chemex set up, and there are supposedly some good pour overs out there these days.

Yes, I have spent to much time on home barista, I roast at home but need to upgrade my grinder at some point.

Yes, read about the technivorm- this sounds intriguing although this costs about $400 loonies from what I've seen advertised so I'm hesitating spending that much at the moment

We drink a ton of coffee in this house and burn up coffee pots.

We found a Made In America Bunn a couple years ago at an Old Hardware store. The Box was faded a to hell, but that is a kick ass coffee maker.

Other than that buy a Cheap ass Mr. Coffee and just plan on buying a new one every year or so.

Two words Pour Over. I have three of them, a Chemex, Hario and a ceramic 3-hole and I'm never going back to a machine. On a side note, I started roasting coffee six months ago using a popcorn popper.

I drink coffee day and night. Don’t like flavored stuff, just good strong basic coffee. Folgers gormet blend my favorite. Don’t like single cup stuff, tastes like instant to me. Had a Cuisinart that really didn’t last that long and got the programmable Mr. Coffee that is doing great. Out of the brands mentioned I’d go Bunn. Very durable, used by many restaurants.
