Adding weight to driver head

So, a fine member here sold me a Adams 9088 UL driver (can't remember who, sorry). It's a nice club and I can hit it a mile at times but as an aggressive swinger it can be a bit erratic. I picked up a True Temper BiMatrx shaft from a screwball member here (thanks Landon, you da man!) and put it in at 44.5" with a GP Tour Velvet +4 midsize grip. Feels like shit. The head on this thing is 190 grams and is too light for this shaft. I put 10 grams of lead tape on the sole and it woke this fucker right up. I really like it now. I can play it this way but I hate the look of the lead. I'm thinking about adding 10 grams of yarn inside and remove the tape. Does that sound stupid?

Going to be hard to add 10g with yarn as yarn doesn't weight much. If you have some yarn weigh 5' and see what it weighs then you can figure out how much length you are going to need. Microfiber fill weighs more but still not a lot.

do you have the means to hot melt it? Golfworks has these black squares of swingweight tape but they don’t stick very good.

I guess you could pull the head and use a lead tip weight?

I've added that much weight with yarn to a driver head, but with an adjustable hosel so it was easy to access the head with the adapter removed. Gonna be a bit finicky thru the hosel. I'd check and see how much it would cost to hot melt it first and then decide.

I still have an Adams 9088ul driver around here somewhere that used to be a blast to hit until the shaft epoxy started rattling. I had it re-epoxied by an inexperienced fella and it never was the same after that. I had forgotten about it until this thread. I may have to dig it out, reshaft it with an Aldila NV, and let 'er rip! Yeah, they're light bastards......

Some may remember my days at FGI where I added weight to the interior of driver heads.
I did weight one to a full pound. It was the straightest driver I ever hit. But it was 50 yrs shorter than it was before.

Anyhow, after looking at pics of a 9088 ul, I think you could make some medallions to fit the indentions on the sole.
To do so, you would apply a release agent, like a swipe of cooking oil from a saturated paper towel to each of the indentions and the area surrounding them.
Then you would need to fill the indentions with something heavy, like melted plumber's solder.
You may have to find a way to secure the club so you get the most fill in each of the indentions.
After filling the first indention, let it cool.
Then place a wood block on the face of the club and give the wood block a quick whack or two and the medallion should come loose.
Repeat the process for the other indention to make the second medallion.
Use rubbing alcohol to clean up the indentions and medallion.
Use flowable silicone or rubber cement or contact cement to install the medallions. These adhesives are vibration resistant, should hold the medallions well and when you no longer want them in, you should be able to clean them up.

I was just thinking it would be the easiest, reversible way other than the lead tape to add 10g to this head.
Some of my thoughts were;
Measuring out 10g of plumber's solder is pretty easy. And it likely would not fill the whole cavity, allowing for aesthetic adjustments.
The medallions could also be painted.
The medallions also wouldn't affect performance negatively.

If my reference of the driver I weighted to a full pound scared you off, I apologize. I only included it as a reference to the most extreme of my many headstrong experiments.
The loss in performance I got when I weighted a driver to one pound was because the driver head went from 201g to 454g. This would be similar to taping a 5 iron head to the driver and swinging it. I remember putting it on My swing weight scale and it flipped the carriage of the base. Distance loss was due to my swing speed dropped 30 mph.

My most successful driver for me was when I used the same method to create caps to fit over the weight screws of an r5 dual to bring the head weight to 220g. I guess I should have led with that anecdote instead of the pounder.
