My buddy was playing the orange version of Volvik Crystal. I think it’s easier to see than any other ball color I’ve seen. It’s more melon color rather than orange. Photos don’t do it justice.

I do think the orange-red color is the easiest to see, but no ball I like to play comes in that color. I have been a yellow Srixon Z Star guy for years now, but I tried the yellow Snell MTB-X this fall and I have to say it might be better. The color is a touch brighter and it seems to play just as well. I think it is longer for me off the driver than the Srixon.
Have not hit a Volvik ball I liked, although I somehow have only found them on the course.
I'll tell you what's the worst color and that's the blue. Whoever thought that was a good color for a golf ball? I think the best color depends on when you're playing. Those bright red balls are great in sunny conditions, they look like a laser but I played one for a few holes the other day in overcast conditions and none of us could see it after a few yards. It was OK on the ground. I find the bright yellow to be best at dusk. But really, you can't beat a clean bright white ball overall.
I've never found them to be easier to see in the grass and in some respects they blend in better (yellow, green colors) with the grass, as they do in the fall when the colors change (orange and red tones). Against a cloudy back drop then the bright ones are a little easier to follow. The dark colors are the worst.....have seen some in burgundy ... Good luck following those. Prefer white and IMO easier to see in all conditions.

I can agree on that. My wife sometimes plays a blue one and I have a lot of trouble spotting it on the ground.
My eyes seem to pick up the yellow balls better than anything else and that is mostly what I've tried to play this year.
JoeHatesSnow That's one of my favorite balls as well. I might give the edge to the Tour B X overall, but I think the Snells are $130 shipped for 5 dozen right now and that may be my ball for 2021. Might have to be white though as they apparently never have stock of the yellow.
When you say you give the edge to the Tour B X overall, is that a Bridgestone ball? I haven't really tried many of the Bridgestones.
JoeHatesSnow Yes I really liked the Bridgestone Tour B X. Also tried the Tour B XS "Tiger" ball which felt better (softer), but not always quite as long off the tee for me. This year I played the Tour B X, MTB-X and Maxfli Tour X. I played the ProV1X a bit as well (won some in a tourney) and I could game any of them without issue, but the Bridgestone was probably my fave.
Nothing worse than BLUE balls!!

I guess I won't be trying the Bridgestone anytime soon. On a lark I went to the Snell site and their Black Friday sale had the MTB-X Optic yellow 5 dozen value pack available for $129.95 and free shipping. I went ahead and ordered one so I should be all set when golf season resumes for me, probably in about 4 months.
JoeHatesSnow but I tried the yellow Snell MTB-X this fall and I have to say it might be better.
IMO it is a better ball.
On color everyone is different. I can't see red at all and orange used to be OK but I won't play a matte ball MGS cured me of that. That Crystal that Don posted looks good. I think Volvik Crystal's are harder higher compression 3 piece so that's good for distance.

I think it probably is as well, Scott. I didn't really have much interest in trying them until I read some reviews about the balls and one mentioned Dean Snell was the creator of the TaylorMade TP LDP Red ball, which was probably my favorite ball ever. That prompted me to try the MTB-X. I have to say it plays very similar for me.
Dean knows his stuff on the development teams on many great balls that have been brought to market. I believe Snell's made in Korea same as ProV1's. Plus Dean is really a hockey player in the golf industry.
KCee Might have to be white though as they apparently never have stock of the yellow.
I bought two dozen MTB - X yellow a few weeks ago from their website. I have both in the optic yellow and the white. My current fav balls. I was playing Volvik Vivid in the yellow and orange. Both the Snell and Volvik Vivid "yellow" balls have kind of a greenish tint to them and you can tell the difference from them to most other yellow balls at a distance.
Years ago I played the Maxfli Noodle "Ice" ball a full season. They came in lots of colors. My fav were the bright pink ones. Very easy to see. They also made a grape colored one that you couldn't hardly see in the air or on the ground.
OG Snell MTB is the GOAT. Still have a dozen! I hope he re-releases at some point. I know it's unlikely but ya never know!

None of the current lineup is similar enough? That seems weird...
JoeHatesSnow the black is similar but not as good....not as much spin into the green, notice it more on those partials, chips and pitches! And the MTB is a tad longer. Black is good but not quite MTB good. Haven't tried the MTB-X to compare....likely next year!

Maybe MTB-X is the one for you then. I have been using Z Star for a long time now, nothing I tried could touch it for me but ProV1 X and I wasn't going to pay for those as Srixon would always have a deal at some point. Plus I got used to yellow. The Snell spins just as well for me but still seems better in the wind for some reason than the Srixon. It also seems to be longer off the driver, and as Rickochet mentioned the color is a little brighter yellow-green. I will do some more comparison in the spring as I still have some Srixons left but I feel like the Snell has dethroned the Z Star for me.
