Removing over the post putter shaft

I have the original TaylorMade Spider putter and I can't get this shaft off to save my life...
Anyone out there have a suggestion?
I did heat it slowly but dang it's on there....

Heat the crap out of it with a torch. It should be a super easy pull.

Rickochet Yep. Slow heat is low heat, and epoxy will never melt/soften. Fast heat is hot and epoxy softens in less than a minute. Torch....moving flame constantly.

TM does use some bitch type of epoxy; takes a lot of heat.

Ever think there is a reason their epoxy smells so bad? If you send a club back on warranty, that you dicked around with, they will know from the smell; warranty voided!

Never noticed a bad odor from the TM stuff though.

Never had an issue. The post is short and there is actually very little area that you need to heat. The glue releases quickly and the insert area probably won't even get warm. Just hit the lower 1" of the shaft with heat. Put the head in a vice and start twisting the grip as you heat. It should release very quickly. Using a butane torch gives you a better control with a smaller flame tip.

toraider I always worried about that and would put an ice pack on the face while heating it lol. Not sure it mattered, but don't think I ever melted a face. Worst case, the epoxy holding the face insert might let go?

Cold cloth around the head, if you feel it's necessary.
Also run the head under the cold water tap after the shaft is out so the heat doesn't linger.

I have never had an issue, although the only insert putters I have had were TM Nubbins and Odyssey Rossie (black insert)

Thanks for the replies. I never have to worry about this stuff and all my putters are Plumbers/L neck and the heating point is always away from the putter faces! 😃
