NS Pro 1050 GH thoughts

Last weekend I concluded reaming my pi5s to .370 and installing NS Pro 1050 GH shafts. With my very limited time with the PW I can say that I think these may be my last stop with shafts in these heads. They are light, easy to feel the head through the swing, trajectory is good, feel at impact is good. I am not sure if I will get this set to a course this year...I may be done for 2020, but I am at least somewhat excited and optimistic about this set moving forward.

Depending on your needs fitting wise I find the Nippon NS Pro line as a whole is best in quality for steel out there. There is a reason the NS Pro 950GH is the #1 shaft used on the LPGA. Mirim Lee used the 950GH to win the ANA last week.

I put those same shafts (S flex), in my Rogues a couple weeks ago. I replaced them from the XP95 R and it is a huge difference in overall feel/performance. Gained a few yards per club, and trajectory(higher), is much better. I have another set of the shafts just waiting for the right heads to come along.

I had put some 1040GH in a set that I had been playing with FST115 shafts. They flew straight and the distance was good. My only issue with them is that they told me nothing when I struck the ball. I could not get any feedback from them at all. Quality shafts, I just didn't care for the feel of them.

If I didn't have graphite Recoils I'd have Nippons....or possibly KBS, but I might give the edge to Nippon.

One of my golf buddies sprung for a set of Miura irons a couple of years ago and the fitter recommended TT AMT Red shafts and I told him to ask for Nippon, but he got TT. He's broken and replaced 4 shafts already and 2 of them just broke under the grip in his backswing.

It's more about the shaft weight IMO. This is why most either dislike 55g - 65g lighter graphite to lighter 95g - 105g steel. It's the weight not so much the shaft profile. Or the heft match is poor.

Many like the NS Pro line because of the constant weight feature both in .355t and .370p.

I agree. I have 110 gram Recoils so they are similar in weight to the steel I was using. The shock dampening of graphite makes a huge difference which is why I stay. Lately though I have had trouble not hitting these super high draws that just keep turning left. I almost feel like I am overloading the shafts although I'm not really hitting them any farther. Just wondering if steel would allow me to swing without fear of hitting that shot......or maybe I just need to fix my swing lol.

Great points. The graphites like the Recoil 95, etc. are similar weights though. I switched to graphite
for several reasons: tendonitis, age, feel and higher launch. I have the exact same iron head with a
Recoil and a Nippon 950gh for testing. That is where my comments come from. Can't hit loads of balls
with the Nippon without irritating the tendons. YMMV.

I think they are out there, new, at discounts somewhere. I've seen them lately. Check ebay.
