Playing unbelievably right now but hard to pick a novice in the US Open.

He is no beginner. Proven winner. But, it is the Open.

They are all having their issues. Reed is in reverse and on the pedal.

Looks like if either Matt, Bryson, or both get off to a hot start, it could be a 2 man race to the finish.
Anything can happen at a difficult major though.

Reed is heckled has perfect response. If there are two PGA players that more fans dislike it has to be Reed and DeChambeau. Nice pairing probably good that no fans are on site. Sergio in the 2002 Beth Page Black US Open and the regripping over waggling comes to mind

Tough to figure what the USGA can do to combat the bomb and gouge style of golf, I guess it’s the new norm. Nothing can stop the guys that play driver and wedge golf. All the tough layout did was stop the traditional players. Can’t remember two “ goofy swing” guys leading on the final day. Maybe the classic courses cutting down most of the trees was a bad move, great for the members but too easy for the bombers.

Probably time for another thread about toughening courses vs rolling back the ball.

I laugh, when I see a full field of Pro golfers and not 1 of them can hit 1 straight shot; driver/iron/fw club. WTF do they teach these guys growing up? They hit no straight shots off the tees, nor from the fw. Everything has to have a 'curve' to it, from their standpoint. And, therein, lies their demise. Every week. It's almost seeming that the 'luckiest' is the winner of every tournament, not the 'best'. Why even have short fairways? They can't hit them anyway; save the labor.

Seems like the new norm is to bomb your tee shot as far as you can, go find it, gouge it out
of whatever lie you find it in, and repeat...control off the tee is pretty much a lost art for most.

darpar There is going to be no making the courses tougher, or longer, that is being proven on every course they play. Rolling the ball back also won't work as the longest will still be the longest(and in the rough 😀 ). Equipment could be rolled back(lofts), and that might make a difference when having to use a longer shafted club from the rough.

Spuzz Looks like a couple more than 6, what with him hitting a moving ball.

What a start for the final group. The young guns come out as the only contenders with birdie putts to start the round.

The leaders are backing up and the greens are showing their teeth.
Could be a wild back 9 finish....and the fairways aren't getting much use today! 🤣 🤣
