Thanks for the question.
Jason and I have known each other for decades.
We talked about this venture a lot.
As you know, he took all of the existing SMT stock from my warehouse over to Diamond Tour, and I mean ALL of it. down to the very last ferrule when the loss of my mom to cancer lead me to raising money for charities at smtevents.com
We talked on the phone a lot about factories, materials, direction of the brand that he wanted to re-introduce and we fully agreed on keeping the high quality that SMT was created on.
It was a fun experience.
I actually moved the SMTgolf.com website over to him so his guy could completely redo it. But the success of the Sub70 brand has kept their giant warehouse and manufacturing unit hopping. Which I am thrilled for him, but damn! His guy is quarantined like the rest of us... Get the SMT Golf site up already. hahaha
On this round of heads, I had minimal input on design as Jason has learned so much over the years. He really has come so far from the small garage in Waterman Illinois. I am very happy for him.
I did have comments and opinions and Jason did implement those desires into the models as he could, we agreed on most everything. Except the golf bag. I hated the first one and pissed a fit to get it to where it is today. hahaha
I am in love with the new SMT wedges. The look, the feel, the design, the quality the milling is so fantastic it is beyond everything I could have imagined.
The drivers are really special as well.
A couple of the putters are not what I would use, personally, but people love them, so I am happy with that. That is where Jason's knowledge of customer trends comes into play.
It is a great relationship!
Now, about that damn website........ Oh, Jason
