however --- the part you OMIT--- is that SINCE the beginning of America, those things have been {theoretically} guaranteed to all people(s) herein, starting with the racist and sexist limitations of the Bill of Rights, and progressing to "full coverage" under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, expanded by the 19th Amendment, tangentially reinforced by the Voting Rights Act,, and much further and repeatedly reinforced and validated by SCOTUS until last year's striking reversal(s). On the point of the Voting Rights Act, interestingly enough, I imagine that many here claiming they "miss the America they grew up in".... conveniently started "growing up" right before that act was passed. Curious that........ whatever could it mean...
So yes, while people might have been clamoring for those things long before the USA, it is in fact the founding of the USA that was supposed to start guaranteeing those things. We are supposedly a uniquely virtuous place... American Exceptionalism and all that. Yet you're telling me that because people have been shitty in the past, we should keep being shitty today, because that's all the world has ever known? SO MUCH FOR EXCEPTIONALISM.
NAh, I'll just sum it up: Screw that, screw your reactionary values , and screw your indifferent and indirect injurious treatment of those you don't care for since they don't look or act like you.
It's a shame he had villainous intentions, because he was right on everything else.
