I saved it to my PC and rotated it. Last week I watched the old movie "Strategic Air Command" with James Stewart. There was some good footage of the B-36.

Rickochet The re-engine of the BUFF will extend its life further. Already glass cockpit and expanded weapons carry. Hard to say the plane I work on now (F-35) is better once they upgrade the BUFF more. Planning to park B-1s and B-2s, odd and hard to understand. Loved flying it--old school, no ailerons.

Bravopilot why didn't they start building new A-10 airframes, and parts??? Maybe figure out a new engine for it that would increase its power/ weight ratio???? Wouldn't that have cost less than a brand new aircraft, and still have close air support locked down??

Walterjn Yes, there has been no, nor will there ever be a replacement for the A-10. Great plane, with an always-needed mission. Would have been fun in Ukraine against all those Ruskie tanks. That is a big gun.

Bravopilot that right there is a damn shame!!! The best close air support fixed wing that could/ would handle anything it came across on the ground, yet the military won't bother to keep it going...
Reports from friends who served, that cannon was definitely a reassuring sound for friendlies and terrifying for anyone else... Not to mention it did close air support fantasticly well.

Unfortunately, there is little money in it for the Defense Industry, upgrades don't pay the bills, plus there is little/no money for the Congress Critters and Pentagon Weenies who make these decisions - no campaign contributions they can keep or vacations they can take.
