Scheffler's Wedges: Callaway Mack Daddy 4 (50°, 55°), Artisan Golf (60°). Artisan has Nike roots thru Tom Stites.

Funny you say that, I have 2 ferrules on my Nike Vapor pro combos that creep. They won’t stay. I even got some epoxy in one of them and it still does it. I’m done with it.

I noticed this also - wondered if it was a ferrule slip, crappy build or if the ferrule color rings are opposite of normal.

Typhoon I have 2 ferrules on my Nike Vapor pro combos that creep. They won’t stay. I even got some epoxy in one of them and it still does it.

Last time I said that it was actually the clubhead creeping.

Probably, Chris DiMarco's Ping driver head let loose at The Masters. Culprit quick set. It made Ping tour van guys look bad.

When I started clubmaking, I used epoxy under ferrules. Now I just rely on a press fit. They never seem to move, but the OEM ones do. I'm sure they are using slightly larger ID's, easier to install.

Correct Don. Time is labor and when you are slapping components together in China in a factory setting. Major brand rely n great cosmetics for a selling point but I have seen a lot of major brand issues with ferrules.

Personally, I use a epoxy application inside of ferrule when ferrule is slid on shaft. They never move or creep. It's my reputation on the line.

As to ferrule creep the main reason is air bubble trapped but you would see that as they set up and cure.

Yes, I had to return to epoxy for the ferrules as well. They are sliding on now, no need to tap them into place like I used to have to do. A previous set I made started some ferrule movement and it looks bad on me. Set right now is drying with epoxy under the ferrules!

I think he may mean a reshaft that somebody didn’t drill out the shaft to let the air escape. You can get the shaft in all the way but a little bit of trapped air will force the shaft out a bit looking like ferrule creep. Shouldn’t happen with new shafts at all.

It could happen with new shafts. If one uses a weight tip plug older types did not have good air escape drilled in them. Then you could have shaft with air between bottom of tip weight and bottom of bore. If you've been a fitter/clubmaker for long term many have seen this. You would see it right away and need to rectify.

I always prepped the shaft tip a bit above the ferrule. I then put some epoxy on the inside of the ferrule while sliding it on. Never had an issue with ferrule slippage. I also ran the ferrule up and down a rat tail file to roughen the inside but also make it easier to slide on.

When a club was brought in for repair (ferrule sliding up) I woulprep the shaft a bit above the hosel top and dap on some epoxy and slide the ferrule down.

Never had to worry when we built persimmon woods with whipping. 😁
