I go back and forth as well. My steel shafted go-to set are my PING Eye 2 irons. Nothing feels more solid! I have a nice set of Mizuno MX200 heads that I am putting graphite in.

I think once you've had Mizzys, other irons suffer in comparison for feel and esthetics. Even the TM 300s I had were below them and I thought they were pretty special. Your MX 200 s also look to have added dimension of being more forgiving, which the
Mizzys aren't usually linked to . Wondered what shaft you are putting in them as I've never had forged iron with graphite except the #6 I tried Hogan pro edge with apex stiff in it.
Yours look nice w/o the MX labels too, but I'm not a fan of labels in the cavity .

I ordered some .370 low end graphites from Value Golf. I am going to hand taper them to .355 and give them a go. I have done this successfully with PINGs several times. Being a fan of color, I will leave the cavity badges in. 😉

It can be tapered from .370 to .355 with the 1/4" or so at the end of the tip. One thing is to not do this with super lite weight graphite shaft which has thinner wall construction. The low end graphite shaft should work well and easier to turn down the tip because of the thicker softer material used.
Since my hand and should got better I went back to light weight steel shafts now. Still could not handle the heavier shafts over 125 gm. very well with the long irons. Next step is to get back on the work out with push ups and light weight lifting.

Never knew you could modify shafts like that. Interesting approach to shaft fitting. Good winter project .

I use sand paper and digital calipers to get the last 5/8" of the shaft as close to .355 as possible. The rest of a tapered hosel is .370

This works well and opens up MANY choices of shafts when dealing with tapered hosels. I have also reamed out tapered hosels from .355 to .370 with same good results.

I have to point out the general direction for them..... Not a good idea to use a colored golf ball when leaves are falling off the trees and we have thousands of trees and bushes on our local golf courses.

Many graphite shafts are manufactured to .370 (parallel tip) then the tip is stuck in a machine much like a pencil sharpener to take it to .355 (taper tip). Easy enough to do with a high grit, well worn belt sander. I use worn 240 grit belts. Some 1in x 30in belts come as fine as a 600 grit.

Have at it. Easy peezy.

This is probably my 10th round at it. No problems so far. Wish I had a belt sander tho............maybe Santa?

Actually, I find that bright orange golf balls are easier to find than yellow or white in the leaves. I'm playing with orange Nike PD long golf balls right now. Wow, are they a bright slightly reddish orange! They are quite easy to find unless completely covered by leaves. You can't find any color if it's covered by leaves. This is the second fall I bought and used these Nike balls The only problem is that I'm sure they will become difficult to find soon. Some of my friends seem to like the neon yellow balls in the fall. I use them during the spring and much of the summer but have trouble finding them in leaves. I remember once seeing an article about color blindness stating that most of us are somewhat colorblind in that we tend to see either the greenish colors or orange colors better and the other isn't as bright for us. The article wasn't about golf balls but it seems to have some truth in golf as well.

Sorry about that, I was replying to Release where he stated that it was not good to use colored golf balls when leaves are falling off of trees... but somehow didn't get it directly to him as intended.

Yes, the Nike's Bright neon colored PD Long is very visible any time, Perhaps not around here because we have lots of huge maple trees with fallen leaves of yellow and orange colors. I love that orange color into the back ground of grey sky or even sunset.
Nike actually makes very good golf equipment.

Here is some help for us old timers. I was at the course this week and I saw an old friend we used to play with at times. He is 84 years young. We got to talking and he said his game is not any where near what it used to be. He said he still hits his driver and putts well and he always has had a great short game. ten years ago he shot his age or better 9 straight rounds. So I told him well you probably still get it in the high 70's occasionally don't you? Then he replies well I did shoot a 72 last week. Twelve stokes below his age. Yikes there is still hope for us I guess. He is also one of the nicest guys I have ever played golf with. Soft spoken and gets embarrassed when someone says good things about him. After saying he shot 72 he sheepishly said now that is something to brag about.
