a senior golfer section might be warranted. I know, everyone thinks it will be just a bunch of old goats complaining about their aches and pains. But I think golfers who are 60-65 plus have many age specific needs and issues that we may be able to help one another with. I'll throw this out to my fellow old fart golfers to comment on. I'd like to see such a section, never have seen one anywhere else.

There's little difference in a golfer's game between the age of 40 and 45. There is a little more difference between 45 and 50. Between 50 to 55 there is a good bit of difference and between 55 and 60 there is a helluva lot of difference, and after that ................

I found right up until I hit 60 the changes were minimal. Once I hit upper 60's and then 70 a big difference. Less motivation, less clubhead speed less flexibility and less good health. I used to be obsessed with shooting low scores and now I am just happy to be out on the course and enjoying my life.

I don't get to play all that often, 25-30x a year but cherish and enjoy every minute on the course. 99% of my rounds are played with dear friends.

I keep score and try to play as well as I can especially in the few tournaments I play in but don't get upset with a bad shot or hole and don't let it bother me. Case in point, today Took a 7 on the par 3 4th hole from a bad lie greenside, laughed it off, went on to shoot a decent score. More importantly spent a beautiful day with an old friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer and who will undergo major surgery in 2 weeks. A special day.

me too, I'm 71 now and drives barely reach 200 yds on a good day. Hybrids and short irons are better than ever before, and putting has improved also. Now from the green tees I'm shooting my old white tees score. Just looking for a nice day outdoors.

I'm in. 64 years old. My game is now down to keep it in the fairway, try to get it close to the green and try to get it up and down. 6000 yard tees are now long for me.

That sounds like my game. My pro asked me why I don't play the back tees anymore. I tell him because I am standing too close to the ball when it stops rolling.

I'll be 70 next week and my goals have changed...keep it in the fairway, get second shot close to green, chip and a putt. Spending a lot of time on improving the short game. In my 30's I played with some older guys - one in his early 90's. Their game was 150 yd drive down the middle, second shot under 50 yd from green and then a great short game with a one putt, usually under 3 ft. It was difficult to beat these guys, except on the par 5's. I've come to appreciate the saying, "Drive for Show, Putt for dough"; or, "it's not how you drive, it's how you arrive"...And I now play from the geezer tees...

Damn these new windshield wiper blades and their cursed adapters.

How often do you change the windshield wiper blades ? I park cars in the garage so maybe between 18 months to 24 months. UV ray is the number one aging cause for rubber and synthetic cousins.

Anyhow, I used to a lot of things around the house so changing wiper blades is nothing new to me, except, these wiper blades changes the adapter to the wiper arms often. Too often which I could not keep up.

Got some wiper blades from Costco with discount, GoodYear Hybrid for Less than $4 a piece. Great deal so got home and started to change the blades.

First, the instruction sheet with small print is too hard to read and understand. They also changed the adapter for the same application on a hooked arm. So I was looking at the old wiper blades which has no clip to push and nothing on the outside showed how to dismount it. Tried internet for clues, got all the how to install with the new adapter. Tried the OEM but the adapter from GoodYear wiper blades replaced the OEM 18 months ago, so it won't apply.

Great, I did not save the old GoodYear wiper blade instruction on installation. Tried everything except take the wiper arm off the car. Finally got a clue to take the old wiper blades off the arm. Get this, had to tilt the blades at 35° angle then push real hard. Bingo, the good news was got the first one done and the bad news was, the second one had a split adapter. The plastic just gave up and stuck. Peeled off the broken pieces as much as I could then push and pull, gave it a gentle persuasion, telling it I will rip it off with a pliers soon......
Came off after several minutes.

I don't have a place to store the information with all these new stuff if they keep changing the adapter.
Who'd knew to "tilt the arm 35°" then pull hard ????

OLD golfers could not keep up with new adapters on the windshield wiper, so couldn't keep up with most of the overwhelming "new" stuff. Including golf equipment that goes 15 yards longer each model.

Come to think of it, no one, including the young and nimble could keep up with most of the new stuff in life.

Just venting. Steam is low now.

Nice Young guys at Advanced Auto smile knowingly at me and installed my new wipers in like 2 minutes , no charge, no problem old guy.
AFTER 70, everything including golf gets harder, well not "everything", oh foot, make that evrything is more difficult. But more precious.

If I had known to tilt the blade 35° and push/pull on it ( depending on which side of car I stand on ), it'll be several minutes to replace the old wiper blades.
Dealer wants $69 to replace the wiper blades...... Costco with discount = $12 a pair.
Eventually, if I could afford it, I will have someone else do all the work in the future.

I'll try to install R flex steel shafts in the irons. Still hitting the graphite shafts way too high.
Had done it a few times in the past without positive result.

Perhaps this time it'll work.

My dilemma with irons shafts is: Graphite feels great in shock absorption and at impact, and my hand/elbow pain is kept at a minimum. With steel shafts, poorly struck shots aggravate the hand/elbow joints, BUT, irons with steel shafts have the heft I need to keep my tempo in synch. I strike the ball much better with steel. Graphite heft is so light, I get out of synch and lose distance control and trajectory control. Right now, I am playing stiff steel with pro-soft inserts and am enjoying the accuracy...............and using plenty of ibuprofen. Maybe I can find a 120g graphite shaft?

Several makers have graphite shaft for irons from 95 gm. to 115 gm. some are -very- expensive.
There was a period of time which I suffered from pain in the hands and the shoulders, knees and feet. Not only my golf game suffered, I had difficulties handling some of the heavy chores around the house.

In my case, the urine acid level was very high, caused several episodes of gout attack.

My wife had changed my diet, modified to the point I could still have food like steak and bacon and eggs,, lamb chop..... just not as often as it was. Consumption of wines and alcoholic beverages cut down to special occasions only. Oatmeal is your friend.
My physician prescribed Allopurinol to help lower the urine acid level. Also changed my high blood pressure meds from a Beta blocker to Losartan, an older form of high blood pressure meds that has less side effect.
3 years later the urine acid level is under control and the pain and swelling in the joints are unnoticeable.
My golf game is back where it was 10 years ago.

When you do your annual physical, ask to have a full spectrum with the blood test. Most M.D. will only order a partial spectrum with the blood test. "You could have a better quality of life" quote from my physician if you know what you're dealing with.

sdandrea1 I also like DG 300 shafts for control and I added ProSoft Inserts which seem to soften how they play . My choice, if my 71 yr old joints are not being troublesome . Right now however , I am playing Wilson Deep Red ll with graphite regular flex fat shafts with which I am just as accurate with aim path wise albeit distance control less so. Probably at least a club longer than my steel shafted Mizunos. I like control & feel of the graphite fat shafts a lot and they're arthritis friendly. I'd bet there are some heavier graphite that would fit your desired features too. I tried an old Hogan Edge pro 6 iron with Hogan Apex graphite which seemed very steel like heavy swing wt to me.

About 200 yd carrys with driver and no worse dispersion.
