pellmell Logistics is a very complex concept and why logisticians are well paid. (Sorry, I work with logisticians often, and they hate it when I say the same thing about pilots). Perfect timing.
I get home from work today and there’s a box sitting in the turnaround in our driveway. I’m thinking what the hell is this, get out of the car to take a look and find it’s the coffee I ordered last week. WTF? They can’t get out of the vehicle and just throw it up on the porch by the door? I’m sure they just turned around opened the door and tossed it out. FedEx is who f-ing sucks in this neck of the woods. Rant over
I just wanted to post a USPS update. My DIL lives in a very rural area that is serviced by a very small local USPS office. My wife talked to her the other day and she told her that she was at the local PO the other day and the place was literally stacked to the ceiling with Amazon boxes which are easily discernable with their swoosh logo. The PO clerk told her they were overwhelmed with all packages but most from Amazon. So, morale of story is to ship now if you even hope to send something or receive it by Christmas. I sent two large boxes of presents to my kids in Minnesota and Boston two weeks ago. They were supposed to take 4 days. At two weeks the MN box got there yesterday and the Boston box is out for delivery today. I am guessing UPS and Fuddex are busy as well.
I sent a package WI to CA 12/3, arrived in CA 12/8 and to the local PO on 12/9. Not terrible considering some of the stories....but was holding my breath!
I've got packages coming from everywhere right now. Just checked tracking on all of them and it drove me nuts. I've got boxes sitting in places for 2-3 days before they move on. All 3 carriers!
I know we have guys here that work for some of these places, but WTF?... are people that afraid of a bit of hard work/hustle? The public does know what they get paid, and I would have killed for that type money/benefits when I was employed. Get yer asses to work!! And stay the hell off my yard.
What is really pissing me off is these Ebay sellers that sell, then right away post a tracking # so they don't get in trouble, then don't ship. Then I will get another tracking # because the 1st one expired.
Those PING ZING heads still haven't arrived,, although after a month, they made it from Leland, I'll, to Atlanta.

It may not be slacking workers. You can only get so many packages in a truck. With a greatly increased volume they can only ship so much stuff at a time with a limited number of trucks and drivers. Patience, grasshopper.

Just got word they made it to my Florida post office. I already got a refund so guess who has already messaged me wanting their money back or the parts returned! I just told them I was in VA until the end of the month and they're going to have to wait. Karma......
Ordered an item. Original location was Springfield I'll, then to Champaign I'll (about 3-4 hours away) then Cincinnati and now Irving Tx!!!
It just keeps getting farther from me! (St. Louis)
What a bunch of Dumb Arses!
Got a USPS package that tracking shows has been sitting in Des Moines for over 4 days now. Had one that sat in Akron for 2 1/2 days, but is now on the move again. To who knows where.
And they need more money. For all the raises/benefits.
For those needing to go to the PO to ship something for Christmas take your lunch with you. I went there yesterday to mail a golf package and there were about 15 people in line. And with the people 6' apart the line was very long. I got some forms and decided to come back later. I had to go to the other side of town near the other PO (1 of 2) and it was worse. The first PO has 3 clerk stations but only 2 clerks and the other has two stations with one clerk working. WTF? So after lunch I go back to the first PO and there are about 10 in line so I jump in. One of the two clerks has a customer with an issue and stays there for the duration of my visit. As I move up in line I looked back and the line is about 20 deep now and stretches down the hall. As I get to about third in line I turned around, waived my hand and yelled, "Anyone want to buy my spot in line?" I got a few yucks and it seemed to brighten up a dismal situation. I finally got to the clerk and handed him my stuff which was a box to Canada which I have not shipped to in a long time. I fortunately had the right form and filled out properly but it still took the clerk forever to process. The original lady with the problem is still there. As I wait I can hear the bulls in the line starting to hoof the floor and snorting. Finally I am out of there and the line is even worse. I can't believe that the USPS can't do better in probably the busiest time they have ever had.
Two days ago got my first delivery from Amazon that was delivered by their own vehicles. The tracking was great and showed exactly where the vehicle/santa sled was on an area map and how many stops till it got to me. Great service.
Day 9, and the package is still showing in Des Moines. Now, I have had 2 other packages pass through that same dist. center. 1 made it to the QC area, and is sitting at my P.O., as of Sun. a.m.. Or, I should say it 'was'. Tracking now shows it being 'in transit to it's destination'. Guess I'll be moving, as soon as I find out where the package ends up. The next package left Des Moines 4 days ago, enroute 'to it's destination'. migawd, I hope they both end up in the same place, and it is warm year 'round. Orders were placed 12 & 13 days ago for these items.
I also have a package coming in from CA, via FedEx. In checking tracking, it brought back memories of my trips to So Cal, in the early '70s. Making all those stops along Route 40, as is my package. They must be gassing up at all the Whiting Bros. stations, and getting their $.02/gallon savings.
