Rickochet What does Fedex charge for a home pickup? Do they give you a pickup window or do you have to sit around all day scratching arse waiting?

Have no idea as I drop off and can get a receipt. FedEx/UPS tracking is vastly superior to USPS and easier to deal with.

I'm leading one of our Baby Boomer groups at church in our weekly discussion this morning on the USPS. I prefaced in the meeting announcement that I didn't want it to turn into a bitch session. No, I didn't title the discussion "USPS Sucks". 😄

I had a Fedex depot in town I always used but they closed it about 5 years ago. We have about 4 drop locations in town, two Walgreen's and two Dollar Generals. I talked to the clerk at Dollar General about it and she said they stack the Fedex packages behind the counter and do not issue a receipt. The area she pointed to was right by the door and easily accessible for anyone to grab them on the way out when the clerk is not behind the counter. What a crap shoot.

Rickochet Check with FedEx about drop off locations and find out their procedure to get a receipt. I would tend to believe FedEx requires a drop off location to issue a receipt if it's asked for.

I placed an order Wed., and it was shipped that day, from San Diego. With very minimal exceptions over a 12 yr. period, I've always got this delivery in 2 days from this vendor. Tracking showed 1-3 days for delivery. It arrived last night, to the local distribution center, so I assume it will be in hand Monday. If I go off those numbers, I'd have to assume USPS is twice as slow now. So yes, they do suck donkey balls.

I ordered some pet stuff from Chewy.com yesterday and Fedex just delivered it. They even rang the doorbell for a change. 😛

Rickochet I'd be interested to know where the product was actually located, to know how it got there that fast. I placed an online order a few weeks ago, from Walgreens, and it showed about a week for delivery, which was of no concern. The next day, I checked tracking to see if it had been shipped, and was shocked to see it was "out for delivery"! When the package arrived, it showed being shipped locally, from the store 4 blocks away. 😆

Tracking showed shipping originated in Dayton, OH to Frankfort, KY.

              BUT NOT TO MY ADDRESS!!!!!!!

I asked the clerk at the Dollar General and she told me, "I don't think so." Inspires confidence, no?

Update on my missing shipment to Austin. PO got it on the Sept. 16 and tracking showed that. I filed an inquiry with USPS a few days ago. My wife call a call from USPS this afternoon that told her the package is still in delivery and asked us to be patient. Tracking showed that an inquiry had been opened and closed today. Tracking finally updated today showing it arrived today in Louisville which is 50 fucking miles away. So that tells me the package sat at my home PO for twelve days. A 6 x 6 x 36" box shouldn't be too hard to see. What a joke.

If it's me I go beyond your local store and go to FedEx. The local store may not be following FedEx's procedures. If they are and FedEx allows shippers to drop off packages without bar scanning that's a large issue for the shipper and the drop off location. Some how I don't think the local drop off point is following procedure. Think about the liability. All drop off points in my area Madison, WI Walgreens, Kinko's copy places etc. all have bar scanners you can request a receipt though you may have to wait for one. FedEx maintains locked drop boxes that accept smaller packages.

Says on FedEx's website " Now you have more locations to drop off a prepackaged and prelabeled FedEx package or have packages held securely for you to pick up at your convenience."

Also says...."Contact FedEx Customer Service at 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339 with any package-related questions or to address any issues with a location. Please do not contact the individual store location."

I just checked the Fedex website and it only shows the two Walgreens in our town as shipping points now. I will check with them next time I am there. The only other Fedex option is a terminal 30 miles away. I live in the state capitol of Ky and we have one post office and a small sub PO, one UPS store. My shipping options are limited.

Well, after two weeks my second lost package was finally delivered to Austin. Although it worked out ok it shouln't take stuff that long to ship. It seems UPS and FEDEX are not having any issues. I will certainly look at other than USPS options in the future.

This was my first problem with USPS after many years of using them.

Sooner or later they will get ya.

Amazon built a Fulfillment Center in Madison, WI so anything fulfilled by Amazon now is coming next day by their fleet of contractors or employee drivers. Nice thing is when Amazon driver leaves package a image is taken at spot where it's left. As a Prime customer you leave feedback.

Bought some shafts from DTG on SEP 25th. They were promptly sent to the PO where they got scanned as Accepted on the 28th. According to scan history, they're still there. My hope is they'll arrive any day and there just wasn't any scans.

Still no issues here. Although I will say, the BITCHES that work at our PO are enough to make me drive 15 miles and drop off at an Ace Hardware in my old 'hood. These BITCHES have entitled, holier than thou, attitudes.

Funny you mention that. My local post office here has very friendly employees as does the one in Florida. Surprises me because my old post office in VA was staffed with people who seemed to hate everyone.
