I bought a pre-2010 Vokey Spin Milled lob wedge in great shape at a garage sale.
Whoa!
It spins range balls on little 25 and 40 yard pitches onto a tightly mown area. Not backing up, but drop and stop.
Even my NOS Cally MD2 56 was doing pretty well. It has the new grooves. I can see there is something to be said for a new wedge and keeping it clean between shots. It would be great to have this much spin available on the hard, small greens I play. I played the 60 on the course the other day and I had some shots just sit there by front pins. Wheeee!
So are there any non conforming groove wedge components that aren't trashy fugly junk? And not the abrasive faces. Just something with the old style grooves. I think it is a market opportunity for something of good quality. @ValueGolf
I wonder if the Pro Open wedges have ever been brought up to the new groove standards.
