Single Length Setup (Specifically Wedges)

Looking for some advice from others with a single length iron setup. I've definitely found much more consistency throughout my irons since switching to a single length setup. I went all in, 4 - LW and I've got to say, I've had really good results with full shots and pitch shots with the wedges, even the LW. However, when it comes to chipping and general touch around the green I've really only been able to play a bump in run type shot. The LW does help when I need to minimize the run, but I haven't been able to open up the club face for a true flop shot. Have others been going single length with the wedges or have you been using the standard length wedges?

I played extensively with SL, but not doing so at the moment. I found that having one or two normal length wedges worked better for me. It made for better sand and greenside versatility.

Make my lob shots with a narrow, open stance. Can’t imagining doing that with a long club at 7 iron lie angle.

Lee finally ditched his SL wedges and went with a 4 Vokey set up (as I predicted he would)
Maybe he will document his struggles for ya.

Single length worked great for me in the 6-gw clubs. Super consistent. The 4 & 5 irons were too short, and I couldn’t do much around the greens with the sw & lw. Been thinking about going back to single length.

I would think the wedges would be the problem area unless the golfer was playing wedges that were too short, then I could see stumbling upon a fix for that with SL! For me 35-35.5 is too short. Shortest I can do is 35.75". 35.875-36" works best for full swing shots which is my GW and 35.75 for my SW which it's rare to ever take a full swing.

Isn't this an issue Value Golf addressed with the Vertex line?

Somewhat. The wedges thru 6 are intended to be 36.5”.

Maybe of a two length system a three length system is in order. Or better yet a 14 length system like I use. 😄
