That reminds me of the longest drive I ever hit. Par 4, 384 yards, slightly uphill. Hit a nice drive up the left side, took a crazy ricochet off something (probably a sprinkler head), 2-3 large bounces off the cart path and there I lay, pin high, 5 feet from the green.Bonus indeed.......

Alpha V2 425 10.5* -- even at 44" last year, I hit a couple 280, which is really long for me. It was summer, and the fairways were dry, but that's 40 yards longer than I expect nowadays.

SMT Indio with a Harrison Striper -- I couldn't draw that club to save my life, but when I reared back and allowed for a 40 yard slice, it was as long as anything. But if there were trees down the left side, I had no chance.

I have a few 47-48" drivers now that get me another 15-20 yards, but none are longer than the others. Adams 9015D with an old Aldila Longwood, one of Cutter's Fisters with a Matrix Black Tie, an E-Power 420 with an Accuflex LD.

Need to add the Black/White Lightning to the list. I used to have a 10.5* with a Harrison Striper. That thing was really long. I now have a 14* with an FGS Plus and it's pretty high but very long. A great hot head.

gllama Picked up a10.5 BWL at a thrift store before the lockdown. I'll take it to the range this week.

I had a 12° White Lightning with a Pro Force XL shaft that was money. It was stupid easy to hit it long. I regularly hit 300 with that combo.

gllama It's a Harmon Tour Design CB65 Stiff flex.

In no particular order.

1) SMT 455db w/Accuflex ProLD XX. Came within 4 yds. of making the Worlds with this one.
2) Innovex C_f_D - was so HOT that I cracked the face dead center top to bottom and left to right.
3) Cobra SZ427 - OMG, Ear Ringing LOUD, but amazingly long with the right shaft.
4) Titleist 975D - If you hit the center a lot, it was loads of fun - hit bullets.
5) TaylorMade Pittsburgh Persimmon (0rginal). The first high end metal wood. Bought one early and it was epic at the time.

Most drivers with similar CT's go about the same, it's the balance with your swing and shaft match that counts.

That's why I said I loved them all. Always figured shaft was 80% of what you get from the club. Heads are heads, unless you find the outlier of a particular model. I did have a 9* Wishon 919 with a HOF Dobbins shaft(81gr. S) that was monster. The other that comes to mind is an original Geek NB Orange that Steve got the specs on the number; paired it with a HOF special shaft and it was probably the longest I'll ever hit. Those are the only 2 regrets of my ho'ing. They were consistently long(for me), not just a 'hit to remember', here & there. That came from a DB455 out to 314.

Eguller the Cobra 427. I had forgotten about that one. It was a beast. Sounded like an explosion each time you hit it. I think I may have liked the 350 slightly better. Never owned it but loved hitting demos.

Why is it that all my favorite drivers were from when I was 25?

SMT 455DB/VS339 Proto was the longest I ever had, by far.
SMT Spectrum/Accuflex Evo was second.

Everything else (and there's been lots) were/are all about the same.

Stock R shaft in 8.5 degrees. Still have it.

The SMT DB455 was and still is, one of the longest heads of all time in my opinion. The trick was finding the right shaft. The VS339 was a perfect match. But as I got older, that combo was harder for me to control. But back in the day, I hit many over 300 yards.

Nice find. I think you'll really like this head. Not sure about the shaft. I've had a Harmon in the past and didn't like it. But that head is golden. Hope it works out for you, but if not...

It was the shaft (also in stiff) that was in my favorite combo above. It played on the lower end of stiff, and had quite a bit of play in the tip. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but it worked great for me.

gllama I've got one here with a brand new HOF shaft in it. Waiting for it's turn in rotation.

That might be a great combo. Interested in hearing how it works for you. I loved the 455DB for many years and it might have been the longest ever, but for some reason it lost it's magic as I got older.

LogicalOne Not too many could keep the ball in the air with that head! I've actually got one now. I usually take it out a couple times a season, for fun. I never had any trouble with it as I hit high shots with any head/loft, but I do use a higher loft in this one to maintain that trajectory. One of the best looking heads, imo.

My longest drives I have hit have come off of my Geek LB130. The longest one I ever hit went 350ish. I was in a scramble and one guy hit a safe drive. I had a 30mph steady wind directly behind me and I gave it every thing I had. I hit it in the middle of the 2nd fairway that was over a cliff about 30 feet below the regular fairway. I know it was wind aided and down a cliff but damn if it wasn't awesome to hit a ball that far.

I had one Encore head, but at the time my DB455 was my main driver. I was flipping SMT, Bang and Alpha Heads left and right. I liked the Matte finish on it.
