I kinda of thought this would be the outcome. Muirfield is pretty tight, long rough (from what I remember), and very fast greens. You just can’t bomb and gouge your way around that course.

How was he being a dick?
I thought he remained pretty calm for taking a big ass number on one of the easier holes.
And he was entitled to call a ref over to ask whether his second provisional was OB or not...even Faldo thought
that ball by the fence post might be in.

Maybe he should be called "10 Cup" instead!

the time for not having to beg was when he should have laid up on the first one.

darpar. When the 2nd official told him the ball was OB too he just picked up his ball and turned his back on the guy and kinda huffed "OK". He should've said "OK thanks" while looking at the guy. Heat of the moment but not a good look, imo.

I thought he came off a bit rude. I know he was frustrated but his own decision-making put him there. He dismissed the ruling of the first official because he didn't like the answer. When he got confirmation from the 2nd official he scooped up his ball and walked off in a huff. His pleading the Phil Mickelson case was kind of childish. I saw a brat whining. JMO.

He is about golf course strategy but he's way off on the ball thing.
One geezers make up their mind, they don't change it, so not likely we hear the end of it from him, until he croaks.
It's a shame, imo, because this type of backwards thinking is going to linger like a bad smell on the greatest golfer ever and his legend.

Jack isn't a genius about golf course design, but he is brilliant about understanding the movement of the players and their abilities.
Very, very few players today are shot-makers. They hit to points, always thinking about distance, not the shape of the course.
Jack's courses are mostly designed to have a fading tee shot, followed by a high iron into a non-receptive green.
It's not about bust it ... its about control of the shot.

Spuzz - Don't forget Jack already owns a patent on a regulation size ball he designed back in the '80s. It was used on a course he designed on the Caymans and dubbed the 'Cayman Ball'. I played 9 holes with it and it wasn't fun. Evidently the paying public agreed because I googled it sometime back and the course and ball are no longer in business. But he only needs to pull the research off the shelf, blow off the dust and cobwebs, and he has a big leg up on any new entrants into limited flight balls.
