OK, so I played nine this afternoon with the Vertical Groove driver in the bag. First drive was another high slice OB. Shit! Teed up again and hit a nice high straight drive that was pretty long. Next hole was a par 4 of 330 yards. I remembered to tee it up higher and move the ball more forward in my stance and hit another good straight drive of about 260. Next hole was a par 5 at 470 yards. Another nice high straight drive of around 250. Hole #17 (I played the back nine) was a par 4 of 405 yards, dog leg left. Hit a very nice high draw that hit the hill and rolled down to where I had about 130 yards to the green. Longest drive I've ever hit on this hole. Final hole (#18) is par 4, 401 yards uphill and dog leg right. Hit a high fade that left me around 150 into the green. All in all, not a bad day driving. I love the feel of this driver. The shaft seems to be working now for me. I do have to really concentrate on getting through the ball with this driver, maybe more so than others. It might not be the longest I've ever hit, but it's definitely long and pretty forgiving. Do the vertical grooves help? Who knows? The thing I really like about this driver is the smaller size. With 460cc drivers I never feel that I can square up the clubface consistently.
It's staying in the bag for now.
