Close enough now for Christmas music. Two of the few vocal performances of Oh Holy Night that I greatly appreciate. It seems to take a certain voice and power to work.

Lately, we've been playing a lot of Raul Malo/The Mavericks. Easily our (my wife and I) favorite artist. His voice was unmatched in modern music IMO. We saw him countless times at all sorts of venues, in all sorts of circumstances.. by himself, with his son on a 'solo' tour, with another guitarist on a 'solo' tour.... jamming in a Nashville bar, with a couple different versions of the Mavericks, etc. I don't think he ever really took a 'break'.

We had tickets to some canceled October dates, and we were looking forward to another NYE show, this time in Austin.

Losing him, Joe Ely, Rob Reiner, and Greg Biffle, the last NASCAR driver I pulled for, all in December...it's been a sh!tty month.

Been on a bit of an 80’s kick. Mixing in some Human League, Limahl, Animotion with my normal listens.

Next week I’ll try to remember so Christmas music. I did listen to this Christmas one done by only Nick doing all the guitar parts and programming in the drums etc.. if you like TSO, give this a listen.

Not my kind of song, but I do marvel at how the title phrase is musically incorporated into the song in a manner that works rhythmically.

johnnydoom I listen to almost everything so it’s hard to find something that’s not my kind of music. That song in my Spotify library came up between Toby Keith , a local Cabaret singer and Megadeth’s Tornado of Souls.

Maybe slightly off topic. We discovered a new cover band in the Phoenix area. They call themselves the Smashing Cranberries. They lay down some of the best 90's rock I have heard in a long time and they play it very well. I have seen them twice in the last month and can't wait to see them again.

I've liked America since before they had a hit. I was in a small bar in Sioux Falls, SD one night and this group was on stage playing. I didn't know them or even who they were but I liked them. Turns out it was America and this was about 2-3 weeks before Horse With No Name came out. They introduced it by saying that it was a brand new song they hadn't played
anywhere else up to that time.
