Weirfan Those are all certainly nostalgic movies. Knowing my boy the way I do, some of them may not appeal to him much right now. I actually have never seen Midnight Cowboy. The rest are all good to great (IMO), but I don't think my son is yet into much drama, unless it also has some Tarantino like action too. I do suspect he might like The Great Escape and The Bridge on the River Kwai though.

KCee My wife and I had a conversation the other day about how movies that I remember loving when we show them to the kids now, they don't hold my attention let alone the kids. Multiplicity with Micheal Keaton was what we were watching, and it was super slow. I can watch almost anything, but it seems that some of the older stuff just doesn't hold up like I would think it should.

Seymore101 My wife and I are trapped with 15 and 20 year old daughters and they rarely like any movie that we do, but we felt the same way that these movies we loved years ago now seem just okay.

Spuzz All favorites. Was pissed off last week when looking through the guide and saw that I just missed Deliverance on TCM. I haven't seen it since I was a boy. I'm a little leery about the Smokey and the Bandit series as I think they may be funny to the time period perspective when they were released more than to a later generation. My son has seen, and loved, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. He has not seen any of the Pink Panther movies yet though, and I love them - so they'll be added to the search.

One of my favorite Burt Reynolds movies from the 80's was Stroker Ace. Loved that movie when I was a kid. Hooper was great also.

Forgot to mention SOB is a Hollywood parody with a who's who cast of B list type character actors (of the time) that is under rated, imo.
Plus you get to see Mary Poppins' boobies.

I vaguely remember a movie with Burt and Dom DeLuise called "The End" that I thought was funny as a 15 year old. It was a very dark humor since it was a comedy about a man looking for the best way to end it all, but I thought it was funny at the time. I wonder if, like Seymore101 wrote about above, it would still hold up now (if it is even available due to the subject matter).

That is the movie.
One of a few that have Burt and his buddy Dom together.
As for Dom, his small part in Brooks' History of the World Part 1 was good, imo.

I love Mel Brooks films, and I can still watch alot of the Monty Python stuff. I have 9, 12, & 13 year olds and some of the stuff holds their attention and some of it doesn't. I will have to check out the SOB film, it looks interesting when googling it.

The Great Escape is the most nostalgic movie for me. It was an event, watching with my Dad and two brothers. Still captivates me to this day.

braveheart Several of my favorites. I was disappointed to see that no TV station played The Ten Commandments during the week prior to Easter this year. That movie and Scrooge (The 1951 version of A Christmas Carol) are the two most re-watched movies for me since they traditionally air every year before a holiday. Guess I'll need to order The Ten Commandments on DVD. I've enjoyed all of the rest except for American Graffiti. I must be the only person of a certain age that didn't really connect with that movie for some reason. It must be good since almost everyone I know loves it, but I don't for some reason. I need to see Ferris Bueller again, don't think I've watched it since it was first released in theaters.

I’m a big James Bond fan but for me they stopped making Bond movies after Pierce Brosnan. Daniel Craig is no Bond. Still might order a dozen Penfold Heart golf balls, they sell them in the US now.
