:Got something like that in both thumb joints down by the base of the thumb. Doctor told me the surgery, I forget what it was called, was brutal. He said even with pain killers you will be in pain. You will have to take 2 weeks off from work no matter what you do for work.
I looked at him and said, “ you’re not exactly selling me on this.” He said, “ You’re right it’s awful. Only do it when you can not stand either the pain or you just can’t use that hand.” He gave me a hand brace and it helped a lot.
A few months later I was on a customer call and saw this woman in a huge cast and I asked her if it was that surgery and she said yes. She also backed up what the doctor said to me.
So for some reason it’s not as bad as it was. I now have it in my right thumb this year. I’m actually fine for golf... thank God. But there are certain things I try to do and the pain is too great or I can’t use much grip strength. At the gym I can’t place my hands flat on the ground for pushups or handstands, I have to move my thumb in.... it feels like the tendons are too short. Sucks.... left hand hasn’t gotten worse, right hand is now like the left.
