sdandrea1 Crystal City slowed down significantly. Many little places shut down to never come back. Bldgs were silent but the cost to commute greatly increased. Even the Pentagon parking lot was empty and the very nice food court looked ragged with empty places. Lots of revenue was lost, especially federal, apparently GSA owned many not the bldgs. Downtown DC was always dependent on those dollars. Plus, always found the fed types liked having their people around and easy to reach out and touch.
Used to travel to Camp Smith (PACOM--now INDOPACOM) for annual meetings, way to hard to park and I found Hawaii (Honolulu) unattractive and expensive. Surprised how many were GS-12/13s living there.
