LBlack14 I had a mild heart attack and then had four arteries bypassed. The surgery was in Sept. of 2010. One 90% blocked, one 80%, and the other two at around 50%, but since he was already under the hood...Believe it or not, the zipper scar mostly disappeared. Apparently depression is quite common with the surgery and I'm not sure the medication doesn't contribute some to that since it slows everything down. You also mentioned being cold. I was always a hot natured person, but the BP meds relieve tension on the arteries and veins and increases the flow and I've been colder than I used to be before the surgery. I was itching to get back to work and got the doctor to clear me a couple of weeks early, but I'm a desk jockey and don't have physical demands with my job. After a few months of rehab and aerobic exercise I was lifting weights. I did avoid exercises that put undo stress on my sternum for the first year, but after that was able to do pushups, butterflies, pretty much anything I wanted to do. Only limitation is the lowered heart rate. Even with pretty intense cardio I can't get the heart rate much above 110 on the metoprolol and so my muscles got very sore when I tried to jog a couple of miles. I also took on a more active role at church to keep me busier. My life has been much more active since the surgery than before it.
If you do have a virus I hope you get over it quickly and don't suffer with a lot of coughing at this point. Keep your chin up. I've got 13 high quality extra years that I wouldn't have had and counting.
