We have light rail now so parking could theoretically be stretched to neighboring town and cities. I only know the event Parking will be $150 and up for football and baseball games near the stadium. Have no idea how much they will sucker the FIFA fans. I know the local businesses like restaurants, hotel/motel and the usual tourist spots will benefit more than $9 millions for the event. who knows, there seem to be plenty willing to spend money and not thinking saving it first.
I know I won't participate, since A, I'm not a big fan for soccer, B the tickets and parking are out of sight, not even considering the traffic.
Thirdly, the event will be hosted with the best weather we'll have all year round, that probably will not be an over statement to say this region has the best weather in the North America from June through August. Many of my kids friends came for their wedding last summer have since considered moving here if, their work permits. A few who owns their business are seriously considering moving here, but, I think they'll investigate the business climate before they make a move.
Starbucks is moving their headquarter out of State to Georgia? After Boeing had moved out decades ago and also one of their assembly plant. Small business failure rate in the first year is larger than 50% here. Not really friendly to the businesses. Also the passing of the so called "millionaire tax" and the on going struggle with repeatedly proposed State income tax......
I hope they are just trying to scare away addition influx of new population and not putting all the proposed taxes into practice.
Just learned that the State will cut $100 million for the working family subsidy. They have to cut from somewhere but shouldn't be from the pockets of working families. They need to stop spending on the free handouts and building the tiny homes. It'll be like trying to fill the bottomless black hole. The more you give out free money and free housing, the more will be coming . Can't save the world. All the programs need to have qualification like local resident for 5+ years or something like that.
Dumb politicians, copying the failed example of California and we're already tenth of billions in bedt. State can not create nor print money as the Federal Government so we'd better start from tightening the spending, first.
