There's no parking in the street where we live. Not sure why he called either, except that it probably looked suspicious to him, since he knows what cars we drive, and that we park our cars in the garage every night, as he does. He works for the city, so probably knows several of the guys on the police dept., so I suppose that rather than wake us up at 5:00 a.m. he called them.
My wife is just texting with the lady from across the street right now, so it seems like she is OK (thankfully!).
