This story I'm about to tell is almost too bizarre to believe, but happened this morning......
At 5:00 a.m. my wife wakes me up. She had gotten a notification on her Apple watch from a neighbor that the police were out in front of our house.....there was a car parked in our driveway, right out at the street...NOT our car, and somebody had called the police about it. So, she goes out to investigate, and the cops tell her that they're checking to see who they owner is, but they will not tow it, as it's on private property (ours!). So the cops leave, and we go back to sleep.....
At about 7:00 my wife gets up, and a few minutes later there's a knock on the door.....it's the father of an 18 year old kid who owns the car. The dad is frantically looking for his son, who called him last night and tells him he's hanging out at a friend's house.....a friend that the kid had not spent much time with since grade school! Strange, but at least we know now who the car belongs to....
About a half hour later, we're sitting in our back room having coffee, and we hear a crash!! We look out the front window and the above-mentioned car had backed out of our driveway, but evidently the gas pedal stuck, and the kid backed across the street, up onto the porch across the street from us, and through the picture window of our neighbors across the street! Before we know it, there are FIVE police cars, ONE fire truck, and TWO EMS vehicles in front of our house!!!!
The lady and her husband who live across the street had been sitting in their living room when the car hit their house.....she was taken to the hospital with chest pains.....the husband stayed behind to see to damage control on the house. A little later my wife is talking to neighbors and the police. She finds out that our next door neighbor (who works early) had got up to go to work, saw the car in our driveway and had called the police. However, he did NOT know that the 18 year old kid had parked the car in OUR driveway, but had been snuck into HIS house and had spent the night with one of HIS daughters!!!
