Update on doing our taxes. Our taxes this year we’re a little bit of a pain. First, when I tried to run the Turbo Tax CD it wouldn’t run. Finally figured it wouldn’t auto run and had to do it manually.
Second, because it’s a new laptop I didn’t have my old Turbo Tax files from last year to get our AGI (adjusted gross income).
The IRS uses that as security to know it’s you. So I had two ways of getting it. From Intuit or the IRS.
Chose the IRS. It seemed easier. Lol
Got an ID thru ID.me which the IRS accepts. Had to jump thru several hoops like take pictures of my birth certificate, drivers license and insurance card.
Then was in a Zoom call with a guy who looked at everything on camera. Then I was able to get into my tax records at the IRS and get our AGI from last year and E-File our taxes.
Usually takes me about an hour to do our taxes. This year was a little longer. Lol But lesson learned. Thought about mailing them, but when I read where people have waited months for their refund it was worth the hassle.
