Back in 1978, I was in Britain for 3 weeks in June. I made my pilgrimage to St. Andrews, it was less than a month before the Nicklaus Open. Took an overnight train from London, had to change in Dundee and wait an hour for a train back to Leuchars, then hop a bus to St. Andrews. 3:30 in the morning, the sun was coming up -- could have played at that hour if you knew where your ball was going
