Boring times so maybe a highlight or 2. Usual hour workout at 9 am. Went out and swing the Superspeed clubs and my driver .

Weirfan costco here is only cheaper when they offer incentives like a $100 Costco card etc, otherwise in most instances the same tires can be found cheaper elsewhere .

I just assumed the Toyota Dealer would be way higher - big surprise. I take it to them every 5K for a checkup in order to maintain my free-oil-changes-for-life. They always recommend stuff that I can get way cheaper elsewhere, so thereby my assumption on tires. After 102K miles, I finally wore out the brake pads. Dealer wants $950 to turn all 4 rotors, install new pads and exchange brake fluid. AAA Service Center is doing it Tuesday for $438 with my geezer membership discount.

Last November I had a couple of friends do a complete brake job on my car. They are both local truck mech anics who freelance in off hours.
I bought the parts through Rockauto.
Performance brakes, pads, and calipers (powder coated red) front and rear. They picked up my car and brought it back 3 hours later completed. $469 for parts delivered and they charged me $200 for labor.
Hard to beat that, but I do agree with your experience Steve. Most times dealerships will surprise you.

sdandrea1 We got a great, like new, 2006 Camry 2 summers ago. We got free oil changes thrown in by the dealership. 1 day I was looking through the manual about the oil and changing, and it had a chart showing how often to do such & at what mileage. I laughed when I saw that it shows for maint. past 200K miles. Obviously, made to last, and a company high on their product.

FauxAmish 2 summers ago, I had my brakes done on my truck. New pads, new rotors, new drums. I was going to do it myself, then found this 'mobile' mechanic that comes to you. He did everything, went to AutoZone for the parts, and charged $250 total; done in less than 2 hours. It was going to cost me almost $200 just for the parts. Excellent mechanic and he was here again this summer doing new brake lines. For under $100. Lucky me, to have someone in this area that does this. He is a great guy, and also in the Nat'l Guard, so it's hard to get him some months.

Spuzz I didn't think you would agree with Stanley saying the band is a bunch of buffoons though.

Paul was talking about Twisted Sister from the 1980’s because of them wearing makeup as well, not the new band. Kiss still calls themselves Kiss, Twisted Sister band is retired, Paul doesn’t mean The Dee Snider Band.

i think Dee also alluded to what Kiss should have done was stop using the makeup with the new guys joining... it’s just not Kiss anymore, move on, call themselves something else now.

Hardly a band around now that has original members, or only 1. Yet they still go by the 40-60 year old names; just depends on who has ownership of the name. Many of the founding members, and songs writers, have been screwed over by their 'buddies', and cast aside, yet the band is able to keep the name, and stop the castaways from using that name. Both sides get to continue to play the songs though.

Mine has 102K miles and looks and runs like new. Same gas mileage as day 1. Uses no oil.

Our Highlander has 270,000 miles on it and is still in great shape, In
fact I would rather drive that then our Acura MDX.

2009 Tacoma that I had to replace a turn signal bulb. 2012 Highlander that has only had gas added to it and oil changes. Absolutely wonderful local Toyota dealership. Me likey Toyota.

Still driving #1 car Camry 1997 170k. I re-did the brake lines and brakes this summer. She's just broke in.

'69 RoadRunner doesn't get out much so it doesn't really get a #. Racing fuel to run it gets costly. If it did get a number it would be #43.

Gotta see the guy down the street at the gas station. They are big Volvo fans and I had Jesse’s Volvo inspected yesterday. He said.” Nice Volvo!” I said, “ I’m gonna sell it”. He wants to know how much. He’ll flip it, I know I won’t get much for it...too many little things wrong plus the AC doesn’t work. He doesn’t know that part...I’ll talk to him next week. Only 134k miles though.

scotts33 Friend of mine had one and every so often, when he could afford it**, would drive over to IN to fill up on Sunoco 260. Although the car could never be beat with normal gas, that fuel just made it fly!

**It was over $.35/gal. 😂

Took down a construction hoist elevator at children’s hospital in Cincinnati yesterday. Used a 135’ boom lift to get close enough to climb the rest of the way to the top. I’m the guy up top.

Washed SWMBOs car, shampooed Birdie (dog), vacuumed both vehicles, sharpened the mower blade. I might put the Maltby DBM Forged/Aldila NV together today. Cut the grass, power washed back patio. Cookout with local daughter's family.
