KCee It may just be me though as lately I seem to attract incompetence from all professions.
The people working in those 'shops' are not the old mechanics from yesterday. They are young shitassed kids that they send to a 'school' for 3 days, and then come back as "Mechanics"!! And they get paid like the ones from 'yesterday'. Not the new living wages we hear about.
It's not something new, my brother, who was a body man, was getting screwed 15 yrs. ago, when he walked out. They no longer wanted the workers to make money, THAT was for the company. They sell a repair job .....by the book.....at 2.5 hrs., when it takes them 1 to do it. Then they want the workers to rush right into the next. They took those bonuses and kept them.
Hard to find qualified help when you don't pay for what they know and can do.
I now have a "Mobile Mechanic" that comes right to my house. As an ex. of how he is....I was going to do this myself, kind of an easy deal. Price of radiator was $250. He got the same radiator, at the same place, and installed for $325. AND, he told me he paid $175 for the radiator and antifreeze!! I gave him 360. I've used him a few times, and never a problem.
