My FIL was one of those guys who could fix anything. One time about 15 years ago, he noticed that the sill plate
in my detached garage was rotten (we used to have flooding from the housing development behind us....since fixed).
So, he and I jacked up a few studs at a time, tore the rotten 2 x 4's out and replaced the sill plate with treated lumber.
I thought we had done the whole thing, but when my 3 yr. old grandson was here a few weeks ago he wanted to ride
the few kiddie vehicles we have kept under my workbench for him.
When I got those out, I discovered a small section of sill plate we didn't replace. It may not have been rotten then,
but it was now!! So, since the weather was pretty cool today, I decided to tackle the job. Luckily, I had a few 8 foot
pieces of treated lumber to use, so for the last 2-3 hours I've been crawling around on my hands and knees replacing
that sill and adding sister studs on both sides of the studs. Glad that job is over.....planning to spend the rest of the day in my Lazy-boy.....!!!
