Silver Diamond LX Tour undercut design with upright lies, offset, strong lofts, nice loft graduation for lower club head speed players seniors etal, medium top line not thick and most important 304SS so bendable 5*. Testing a 7i out this maybe the iron I have been looking for to fit/build for majority of hdcp. golfers. Won't break the bank.

They look a lot like the set of Callaway XR Cup Face irons I had several years ago. Maybe the best irons I ever owned. Wish I had never sold them, but the Project X shafts were R flex, and
I got to the point where I was losing distance and needed a Senior flex. Should have just reshafted them!!!

Something that’s been bugging me. I realize modern irons are jacked lofts and lengths in an effort to sell distance but I never understood more upright lies. Most will say they love their 7 irons but can’t hit a 5. I reality a 5 is only 1 inch longer. Given that your hands stay the same height at address with all clubs the difference is really the ball being an inch farther from your body. That leads me to believe that the jacked loft and an improper lie is the culprit. I’m 5’11 and with a 38 inch 5 iron I need 2 degrees flat of traditional standard.

scotts33 if you measure me on an old club length ruler I probably come in at 1/2 inch short. I used to build all my irons at that size( 37.5 5 iron). as I have gotten older and lost a bit of distance I have gone to 1/2 inch longer and 2 degree flat. I really think length is pretty irrelevant with appropriate lie. Length creates distance( swing speed) lie creates clean contact. I have shorter legs and longer arms. My wtf is 33

I am 6'0" and 36" W-T-F and if playing 1/2" length graduation clubs with swing weight heft match play 2* upright 38" 5i. I have a more upright torso/vertical swing plane. That 3" difference in our W-T-F can be immense on how you match playing length/lie correlation.

How I Fit Dynamic Lie Angle. This assumes the player is close to correct playing length/lie to tweak for best performance.

I'd have to regrip, but I have a set of Citation woods, a Louisville golf and old anser putter that would qualify. Irons the Ping Eye 2 Beryllium set would work. Were the original Wilson Button backs made in the US? I still have those, first set of irons I ever played...loved them!

Alpha. They have a bit too much offset for me personally but for the golfer that push/fades probably a good fit.

I can see a bit of resemblance....the undercut on the LX Tour goes across the width of the back of the cavity. What Alpha did right on these is that the medallion is not fixed when you get them new. You bend for lie/loft then affix the medallion. 304SS very soft better than 431SS easy to bend up to 5*. Makes them a clubmakers dream.

scotts33 Bad thing about those heads is they look real nice and they are cheap/inexpensive. And then, someone has to come along and post a link to where 'impaired' people can see how cheap they are. 😄

I still have these heads which were the part of the last run at Hoffman Foundries before they closed in early 2000's.

Maybe the design was copied (likely) as it's plain jane, but, these heads were the last ones forged in the USA before there were no foundries left, at that time. (unless Ping was still doing their own?. Not sure on that.)
What's been re-opened since then? No idea.

Hoffman lost their Titleist contract, among others, and then they tried their own brand for a while but it never resulted in sustainable sales I guess.
